ABOUT OUR SUFFICIENT LIFE

We live on 8 acres in rural Iowa and have what feels like the perfect place to become less dependent on buying things in stores and the electric company. Dan and I are in our mid-50s and we are gearing up to retire early and make a self-sufficient living right here. Our goal is not just to survive, but thrive and we want to take you along with us on our homesteading journey. On our channel you will find videos on building things, recipes, canning, deep winter greenhouses, chickens and much more - anything we are doing to build our homestead! Hi just found your channel . Ive subbed and liked . Since lockdown i put on near 4 and half stone i got type 2 diabetes thats not in my family my bp was at 200/160 colestrol was 12 my blood count dangerous low and iron . Ive always eaten well all my life but got severe unwell 2020 where our just eat app came in my life resulting to weight gain and bloodclots in lungs legs and liver . No gp would see me i ended up with ptsd . I drew a line after i near died refusing all meds. I started doing exactly what you did . Today ive lost 3 stone my type 2 is away my bp has normalised my cholestrol has dropped to. . Im a 61 yrs old and although i no im still unwell mentally im in the best place of my life . Ive been in a wheelchair for yrs and now im able to walk . Channels like yours we need to push out and share . Sending you my blessing in your amazing journey . From Glasgow UK

I've been carnivore for 6 years now... I've not focused on weight loss, but my overall health. I've been a T1 Diabetic my entire life.

🥳🥳🥳CONGRATS !!!🥳🥳🥳 I just started carnivore/ketovore a few months ago… down 20 lbs, and learning a lot along the way… it’s taken sometime for me to eliminate cheese and cream for my coffee… but have finally won those battles !!! 😁😁😁 I have just recently settled in with scrambled eggs in the mornings and rib eye in the afternoon… same thing every day… and it’s working great !!! 🥩🥩🥩

I am gaining traction on the no dairy! It gets easier each day to not have it. Amazing what eggs and ribeye can do 😁 Keep going - we've got this! 💪💪💪

Good for you! 3 LBs is awesome and I think it’s a great idea setting those goals and breaking them down like you’re doing. You can tell you’ve lost a good amount of weight. I know I sound like a broken record but you can see it in your face, you look great! I gained 1 LB at my last drs office visit. I knew I wasn’t gonna lose because I was eating a lot of bad stuff. My dr told me not to beat myself up over it, she said at least it was only 1 LB but I was pretty disappointed. But it’s a new month now so I started again! 😊👍🏻

I’ve been doing carnivore for about two weeks without cheating. I’ve been trying it for over a year but I would always cheat. Taking out the cheating factor has seriously made a difference. Anyways, when I went to your channel, I noticed that you write that you are in rural Iowa. I’m actually pretty close to a border of Iowa myself. It would be really cool to meet more carnivore people. So we could learn from each other. Let me know if you and your husband are interested. There was supposed to be a meet up near me, for carnivores, but after one meeting, they never met again. It just kind of fell apart.

A meat up at some point would be great! If I hear of any events going on in Iowa I will surely let you know here. It's amazing what sticking to the plan can do, but hard at times! Keep going - we've got this. 💪💪💪

I’m 18 months carnivore and reached my goal weight. How does it feel? Freaking awesome!! Keep going. After a few months, I’ve weaned off cheese and sweet tastes. This is much easier for this binge eating food addict. Every day is a good eating day. I eat good, with variety, but meals are about nutrition not pleasure. I look forward to a ribeye, but in 5 minutes into the steak I get full and don’t want any more. I’m focusing on living free without medication

I initially tried doing carnivore to minimize my eating disorders, which did include binge eating disorder. I started doing strict carnivore about two weeks ago and I haven’t had a single binge event since. For the last year that I’ve been doing carnivore, I’ve had almost no binge eating events either. I was cheating though. I think removing the cheating has significantly helped. I noticed when I eat ribeye steaks that I only start getting full about 3/4 of the way through, so I still got a ways to go before I get full after five minutes of eating it. I also really love dipping my ribeye steak and blue cheese, salad dressing. The chunky kind. Quality stuff.

@@Candyapplebone it took about a year before I had corrected my nutrition deficiency and to understand my satiety signals. By then I almost knew how much to eat based on my activity.

You have much to celebrate! How awesome is no medication??! And knowing that we have those satiety signals working again when we are eating a meal. So so much good about this way of eating. Thank you for sharing! 😊

Congrats! I told you that stalling is not an issue.. I can say by contrary, it's a big WIN. This week I gained back 3 pounds even if I kept it strict carnivore. But I decided not to go wild about it. It will go down again for sure and then further more. My midle goals are set at 10 kg each (aprox 20 pounds) and I am confident I'll get to the first one by the end of November the latest. Initially I hoped it will be sooner, but I think it helps me to be more relaxed about the entire process. It took aprox 4 years to get the extra weight I'm trying to loose now, so if I will be succesfull in 1-1,5 yrs, I think that's the healthiest way to do it. Especially because I really don't want the yo-yo effect, I've been there already few times until now. So be happy, you're doing absolutely great!

You are right - I think we all would want it to be faster. But I will tow the line and keep going. We sound similar with the yo-yoing and the smaller goals. Thank you for your inspiration! 😊

I am slowly working my way down to more of a lion diet. Don't want the mental games to kick me off plan, so doing it slowly. Thank you for recommending! 😊

I’m doing the lion diet for the most part, started doing it about two weeks ago. The only reason it’s not Lyon diet is I’d like to have one protein shake when I go to the gym. It’s one cup of milk and one scoop of whey protein powder. So it’s still carnivore. But it’s not just meat and salt and water. I did notice improvements going to this though. It would be curious to see if removing the milk and protein powder from my diet would make any changes. I’m doing really well right now though so I don’t want to change anything up for the time being.

@@OurSufficientLife I noticed that dairy really fucks with me. So good luck getting to practically no dairy. I don’t know about you, but for me, it makes a big difference. If I have any more than one cup of milk as a protein shake each day, I start seeing symptoms like bad breath. If I have three or more cups of milk or other dairy products, I can even get bloated the next day.
