Weird Al has one of those faces that looks completely different depending on whether he's clean shaven, whether he has his glasses, what hairstyle he has, etc. If I didn't already know that UHF Weird Al and White And Nerdy Weird Al were the same guy, I would totally believe they were different people.

No word of a lie. I used to watch this movie so much as a kid. When I was in grade four, I managed to convince my Teacher Mrs Thomas, to show the whole class and the two grades above us, UHF the movie. A whole generation of kids found out who Weird Al was and what UHF was, because of me. 😂😂😂

Honestly, the hypothesis that he's actually a reptilian shapeshifter from another star who gave up on the whole domination of the Earth thing in order to have a good time totally checks out. His musical skills are completely inhuman.

At 2:55 this is the most evident. 6 years after the original music video they got the same woman wearing the same shirt in the same car(with a bent antenna). This made me realize how the dominance of the U.S entertainment industry in Los Angeles makes total sense. This perfect parody would be impossible anywhere in the world but there.

@@kony2023 yep I'm 19 and my grandparents still have a tv that has the uhf dial, it obviously doesn't do anything because uhf hasn't been used in years. It is the tv that I first watched gravity falls on with the episode dungeons, dungeons, and more dungeons which had weird al in it.

I saw Weird Al in concert last year- the fire hose scene appeared on the big screen between a couple songs, and it was a treat to hear the entire audience say "YOU GET TO DRINK FROM... _THE FIRE HOOOOOOSE!"_

That has to make Al's heart sing, especially given how poorly this film was originally received. I *begged* my mom to take me to see this and she (amazingly) said "no, it looks too stupid." And I literally said: "You introduced me to Weird Al. Have you ever even listened to his songs?" I saw it 7 years later in 1996 at a friend's house, and I can honestly say this movie changed my life. I sing verses from this song periodically on my show lol

The man throwing the poodle, Raul, was played by Trinidad Silva, who died in a car accident during filming. UHF is dedicated to him, and in the film's director & cast commentary Weird Al stated that Silva's two scenes were among his favorites in the whole movie.

David Kwiatkowski And yet it was the very tail end of it...the 90s were about to begin. I remember that summer so well. SO many huge films...indeed, that was a part of the problem for "UHF", which came out amid an armada of blockbusters. It only found an audience subsequently, on VHS and TV.

TitanFind Well, it couldn't very well have encapsulated the 80's in say, 1981 ;-) ... Yeah, 1989 was a big summer for great movies. Indiana Jones, Batman, etc. Now, as much as I love UHF, I don't think that it would have been a blockbuster in any sense just because it was so goofy. A film like this is really meant to be a niche piece.

I guess when I think of quintessentially 80s movies I tend to think of stuff from (say) 83-87: the heyday of the decade, with the hair, clothing, production values and themes most associated with the period.

Back in school when I had those idle convos at lunch with my friends about celebrities we thought were cool/hot/whatever, and I'd say "You guys, Weird Al is smart, funny... and he's super hot but he hides it", they'd give me major, serious side-eye. Too bad in those days we didn't have KZfaq to pull up and I could've proved it. "See?" I would've said, "He looks like a guy we haven't heard of yet named David Tennant!"

Just watched this movie again. Great movie featuring 90s sitcom stars Fran Drescher and Michael Richards. 22 yrs later and Weird Al is still going strong.

I remember a music channel did a best of 80's movie songs marathon and I watched it with my parents and I then asked them why UHF wasn't included. They said, "It wasn't one of the best." In a fit of confusion I played them this video and they still weren't quite convinced. I still don't know why they don't like it.

@@nintendonerdsvideos4727 It was released in the summer of 1989. It drowned in the box-office because it was up against Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ghostbusters 2, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and the first Batman movie that summer, just to name a few. UHF tested very well with audiences but was no match for the other bolckbusters that came out around the same time. If they had delayed the release to later in the year, or even in 1990, it most likely would have done far better.
