From one addict to another, i love this dudes outlook. Having a sense of humor is in my opinion the #1 trait you can have in life. Im clean for 1 year now and it was and sometimes still is tough. If i couldn't find the humor in my bad decisions i would have been dead already.

Our sense of humor is one of the few things we get to take with us when we are done here, It takes a long time for some of us to develop one, For some a gift, for others... Life itself. Peace.

I don't know how you quit alcohol cold turkey, I went to my mom's house, I had a moment where I wanted to quit, those who aren't addicts don't understand the complications at all. She said just stop. Anyway I collapsed upstairs and started seizing (from what I'm told) I woke up to ems and was taken to er then admitted. When I was in the er I started to more fully regain consciousness. I had bit off a bit of my tongue and my feet were sore (I guess from seizing) I don't want to go through that again so I have a fear of quitting cold turkey
@Weinmaste

@@AD-fb6qf yeah I feel ya, it was just a choice I knew I had to make, I told myself this is it, either we quit or we don't. If I take my time with it and try to quit over time, I'll relapse. So I chose to just fully commit, no excuses, no justifying drinking, just deny myself any chance to drink, thank God it worked! I wish you courage and strength if you are still fighting the fight!

Almost 7 years in active heroin, etc addiction. Hit 6 months clean Feb 10. It's hard getting my life back but so, so worth it. Big thing for me was getting out of the relationship and home I was in. Process of a divorce ATM. Lol. Things are finally coming together for me and though it's terrifying at times accepting good things, I'm excited for what's to come. The funny thing is that his humor here is dark and definitely more geared towards an adult audience, yet it’s got so much more nuance that many comedians don’t have. Humor doesn’t take much creativity when people depend on sex jokes and swear words. His set was so creative and well designed.

15 year heroin addict, 6 years clean, ...I too hate it when people compare other things, stupid things, to heavy withdrawal narcotic addiction. One time I had an actual drug dependency counselor say something along the lines of, "...I get it, I had a friend who was addicted to buying things..." That's about the time I realized that this person had no idea how to put 2 and 2 together.
@Stephanie-yw3pi
@Stephanie-yw3pi 4 жыл бұрын
I've always believed that the only people qualified to be a drug counselor are people who have actually been addicted to drugs. You cannot possibly relate to the hell my life was, especially during opiate withdrawal...unless you have been through it too. That cannot be learned in 'drug counselor class'
@orphanedhanyou
@orphanedhanyou 4 жыл бұрын
You weren't born addicted right? The initial impulses to try drugs and over buy thing most likely come from the same places. Yes there isn't the same physical dependency, but you being an addict starts before that.
@dsandoval9396
@dsandoval9396 4 жыл бұрын
@@orphanedhanyou I understand addiction, for 10 years of my 15 year addiction I lived on the street, as in didn't have a home, I've read plenty of books trying to find "the key to get clean"..., ...I'm saying *from personal, first hand experience* that between a compulsion to buy things, and, stopping a straight 15 year heroin addiction, as in not off-and-on but A WHOLE 15 YEARS, that only one of those has the prospect where your body involuntarily regurgitates bodily fluids out of all it's orifices. And THAT'S just for starters. Comparing those two addictions to a person like me is like comparing hunger to a well fed person who hasn't eaten in a whole day, to, a person in a third world country who literally has to fight to eat every other day.

Withdrawal is the worst part and why a lot of the addicts can't quit by themselves because it is so dangerous and why so many keep doing. So they don't get dope sick. I completely get it.
@MargieM10
@MargieM10 3 жыл бұрын
There simply is _no comparison_ to opiate withdrawal. I get that all the other addictions have similar mental issues but yeah, it's incredibly silly to try and compare. Congratulations and God bless to others who have done it. 💖

Seven years! That's awesome man! Keep going! I've struggled with addiction myself, nothing as illicit as heroine, but I can relate. Biggest thing that helped me is when I looked at the people around the primary person that screwed me up as a kid. They were there. They knew what was going on. They did nothing. It was this realization that freed me from a lot of the guilt surrounding my circumstance. Trying to form a relationship with such people drives the need to indulge.

@@yeahrightbear8883 It's not so black and white as that. Would you blame a newborn baby for being physically dependant on smack because his mom was a junkie? Could you blame a five year old in an abusive family introduced to alcohol to keep him quiet for becoming an alcoholic by twelve? How about a fourteen year old girl that drops X at a party in her parents basement? A twenty year old college student experimenting with LSD? What I was saying in my original post is if your family is 👌 with you indulging your addiction, or even encourage it, they may not be the best people to be around. I would imagine you are one of these kinds of people.

@@YourCreatorGod i know this...but i was hoping everyone knew what i meant. That's also why went ahead and threw a period In there in the sentence after "entertainment." But its my fault the next sentence is a fragment leading to your comment. Let me clear it up. In my opinion, Live Comedy is the best form of live entertainment; it is also better than going to the movies.

I have never laughed nonstop through ANY stand up routine!!! Mr Gold , the dedication and determination to get your life back on track is admirable and I offer my most sincere congratulations and respect to you. The fact that you used humor to get you through is not common.....I have the same ability to find the silver lining in the worst moments , and usually wind up explaining myself to the newest member of the offended club😂😂😂😬. I hope you will be coming to Sacramento California soon....this IS gold country after all. Blessings and awesome set,!!!😂😂😂😂😂
