Welcome to Weird History's Timeline 1987. We're taking a look at the news, culture, sports, and entertainment during the year 1987. Going back to '87, the materialistic 80s would see a slew of corruption, from PTL to Ivan Boesky to the Iran-Contra Affair. But there would be some uplifting moments - rescuing Jessica McClure from a well, the release of "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles", as well as the signing of the Nuclear Arms Treaty. Sit back and enjoy a recap of 1987, one of the most exciting years of the 80s!

Great year for action movies: RoboCop, Predator, Lethal Weapon, The Running Man, Project A 2, City on Fire, etc... One of the most iconic for rock albums as well: Appetite for Destruction, The Joshua Tree, Hysteria, Whitesnake, Permanent Vacation, Tango in the Night, Kick, Document, etc... 1986's Slippery When Wet also topped the Billboard 200 for the 2nd time, and ultimately became the best-selling album of '87 in the US.

Broly The Sarcastic Savage There are new TV shows that would be considered far more offensive than married with children. “It’s always sunny in Philadelphia” is incredibly popular and it’s about a group of friends that are alcoholic sociopaths and pathological liars. Networks just don’t broadcast shows like that around primetime anymore because the amount of complaints they got are more trouble than its worth. No more people are offended now, than ever used to be. The offended now just have more platforms to voice their stupidity.
@numerum_bestia

recline69 IASIP has always been far funnier than married with children. I wasn’t comparing the shows on any level other than the fact that both have the ability to offend people. Sunny more so. I was making the point that tv shows aren’t necessarily any less offensive now than in the past. There are also no more offended people than there were when married with children first aired. They just have the internet, so you see and hear them now.
@Mr.White10-65
@Mr.White10-65 3 жыл бұрын
@@numerum_bestia what separates Married with Children from Its always sunny in Philly is that Married with Children wasn't on cable TV. Married with Children was controversial at the time it came out and people wanted it off TV back then although now there would be more people wanting it removed. People even thought The Simpsons was bad for children.

Dwyer's on air suicide actually inspired the song "hey man, nice shot" by filter.

You're right. I absolutely love this song! I usually play it nice and loud so my neighbors can hear it. They did take a lot of heat because people said it made suicide popular, whatever. People turn everything. But when the song was written they said we use the phrase "nice shot" all the time, like people that throw something in a garbage can. Sorry didn't mean the history lesson there, my brother and I were teens in the 90s and we saw them live. I lost my brother to suicide 6 yrs ago.
