Almost 2 years with this soldering station, and I can safely state it performs satisfactory. I did a few projects with it, and it was a pleasure to work with. Heating up is plenty fast, tip is fine for general soldering (not SMD though, but as expected) and of good quality (no noticeable oxidation etc. yet). 70W is nice for larger volumes. Cable is flexible and long enough. Hopefully it'll continue to serve me well.

Do you notice how sometimes when it is as 350 degrees that it won't melt the solder?

@@Rhythmicons yes I believe this may be an issue to where the soldering tip does not make enough contact with the heating rod in the pencil so it Heats really slow at lower temperatures

Glad you posted unboxing video. I need to send mine back. The box and packaging are in perfect shape, the case of the unit is cracked badly, suggests that it was packaged up broken. If I can get my money back I will never get a Weller product again.

I can tell you that one of the best hand work is from Mexico. They build so many things with quality. Obviously companies decide to move there in order to low costs but that doesn't mean they build shitty products. Bmw, Audi, VW and others car german companies trust in the mexican hand working

The LCD has no backlight, also no light in the switch, so I made a simple modification. You can see that in my video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNmeo7t5ucmXfWw.html

Well it has been over a year now since your unboxing. How's it working for you? Does it get used heavily or just occasionally? Did you ever get additional tips for it?

Well it might be made in Mexico as my unit is also made there, but your unit has the German address on the label. The label on my unit states Apex Tool Company in South Carolina for the US/Canadian market. I wish they would have explained all the features. I had to figure out what "standby" was.

Standby is just that the temperature regulation is reduced to 180˚C after a specified amount of minutes. It prevents excessive oxidation of the tip if the soldering job is slow and long.

Voor dat geld had je beter een Hakko FX888-D kunnen kopen. Die is net wat beter en wel voorzien van een zekering in het 230V-gedeelte. EEVblog heeft ook een mooie vergelijkende tussen deze en de Hakko gedaan. De Hakko kwam er toch beter uit...

I just bought this, my only complaint is the box makes the digital display appear to be blu backlit. Shame that its not.

No spare parts for the WE1010 Station! is the reply i receive from Weller. From a company who sell tools for repair is inadmissible , let this old company gone like water of toilet .
