thank you. I bought a Weller 120v soldering iron that probably cost about $15 in the 80's. I know, it was just a single plug in P.O.S. that came in a moulded plastic package off a peg from the shelf at Radio Shack(yes, I am that old).... That thing has soldered for years and years and years! I have fixed SO MANY THINGS and build pro-audio cables that have lasted the test of time with that thing. I recently decided it was time to go all-in and get something decent since I have a LOT of soldering to do for upcoming projects. Naturally, I looked at the brand of that CHEAP iron I bought way back when and it was a WELLER!!! It still works but the tip has been put through abuse of the many decades and i have NEVER replaced it. Recently I just started using my linesman pliers (i know cringe) to work off the carbon buildup since it never came with ANY kind of cleaning option... aaanyway... this review SOLD me. Weller is a good brand imo. It never let me down. It's just time to upgrade. I WILL be buying ANOTHER Weller soldering iron(station now) thanks to this review. Great video!

Are you my long lost brother or something?! I just bought a soldering station a few months ago that I’m super excited for. It’s just the Ryobi one from Home Depot, so not as nice as this, but still really great and fun to use.

I have one of theses soldering stations and can attest to everything you have said about them. I’ve been using Weller soldering stations of one type or the other professionally for more than 30 years. They are great, this one being no exception. You forgot to mention they are also ESD safe, so are great for soldering ESD sensitive components too. The one thing I can't understand is why the three tip storage holes in the supplied PH70 soldering iron stand are smaller (won't accept the tips) on the right hand side. I drilled mine out as I like to have the full range of tips easily available when soldering.

I took me a few decades to figure out the small soldering tip holes. They are made to hold the hot tips point down. That way you can drop off the hot original tip then slip the new tip into the hot iron.

It is to calibrate the displayed temperature to the actual tip temperature.

we will see. I just bought this. This brand has been around for decades. I hope I made the right choice but i DO take care of my tools so I have high hopes :)
