So according to you Luke never experienced failure, he was always the hero. Have you seen "The Empire Strike Back". He lost his best friend, he lost the fight against Darth Vader, he lost his hand in that fight and he lost his trust in Yoda and Obi-wan for lieing about what happened to his father. As for the elephant in the room, I think you forgot to mention the unbelievable way Lia managed to survive even though she got sucked out into space. Whats even more unbelievable is when she flew back to the ship, everyone on the other side of the door did not get sucked out the door when they opened it. I beg of you to watch the fight scene in Snokes throne room in slow motion and then try and say anything positive about Rian Johnson directing.

I always thought about that whenever people would say that TLJ was the first time we saw Luke at his lowest. Seriously? Have they never watched ESB? Not only did Luke lose all his confidence, along with a hand, lightsaber and a friend, the rebels in general were being chased by the empire and the end scene isn't even a celebration, but them staring at what's left of their fleet, trying to make sense of everything that they went through... But nope... TLJ is the first time in star wars where heroes don't get their victory lap 😐

say what you will about his writing but this is the best directed film in the saga, even with the choreography slip ups that require slow motion to notice that really dont matter. the acting is perfect, the cinematography is top notch, the film is a visual masterpiece.

@@Z-Mikes00 in all honestly i didn't need slow mo to notice the flaws in the lightsaber combat, they just didn't take it seriously you can tell, its the worst of the sequels in terms of combat in all areas, you can argue the acting but to me the thing that made starwars fun was the lightsaber combat when i was young, and the story when i grew up and the sequels let me down on both fronts. Nothing we can do about it now, sucks that we have to hope for a future series like clone wars to make the sequels seem decent it worked for the prequels so who know.

There's many different kinds of directors with different attributes. Just because RJ isn't good with action scenes doesn't make him a bad director. You could say the same for Chris Nolan

I do remember before the release of Rise of Skywalker that rumor had it that Kylo was now ruling the galaxy from Corascant yet was playing Mr Nice Guy.

No, it was just terrible. All the unanswered question of what happened between the episode 6 and 7. The fate of the New Republic. The stupid chase sequence with its terrible resolution. How every character got either destroyed during the movie or was awful to begin with. The Last Jedi killed the series, leaving an unfixable mess for episode 9.

if "they" were speaking NEGATIVELY about _The Last Jedi,_ then "they" were absolutely right. without a doubt, unequivocally right. couldn't be righter. everything comes from the script: the story and the characters. the things that happen and the REASONS they happen. if you accurately and unemotionally plotted each plot point and character choice onto a timeline, you'll quickly become confused, angry and annoyed. forget it's Star Wars and just run the events logically. it breaks down pretty quick. maybe the only point worth asking all the huge Star Wars fans who probably STILL defend Disney's Star Wars is this: _if you could magically go back in time and do it all over again YOUR way, how many of the new stories, jokes, people and events they've given us in the last 10 years would you actually KEEP?_

I feel as though this is an Old Republic style of storyline. The look of the movie is awesome but nothing about it is for these characters. Although your take on Kylo killing Snoke and becoming the prime bad guy is appreciated.

It's interesting how in both the prequel and sequel trilogies, the most different and original installment was the one that got the most shit (TPM and TLJ). And in my opinion, also easily the most consistently *good* of their respective trilogies.

The fact that there was no overarching plan for the sequel trilogy AT ALL should tell you all you need to know. So just stop while you're ahead, the world doesn't need anymore rambling about The SHIT Jedi.

I have mixed feelings on this movie. There are some things I like. The scenes between Rey and Kylo. Kylo killing Snoke and becoming the new 'big bad.' (Sadly RoS just decided to bring Palpatine back and give him the same redemption then death arc Vader had in RotJ.) Luke faking out Kylo at the end with a force projection. Showing us his sunken x-wing to plant the idea that he could raise it up and have gotten to the planet before we find out the truth. I like that Rey came from nowhere and that the Force didn't have to be tied to a specific bloodline to manifest powerfully in someone. (Once more, undone by RoS' knee jerk reactions to this move.) I don't like the idea that Luke just gave up. Or that he wouldn't give any credit to the idea of trying to redeem Kylo after he himself redeemed Vader against all odds. But on the other hand, TFA kind of wrote Luke into a corner because like...what GOOD reason could he possibly have to have just been sitting around on this empty planet in the first place with a map left to his location? TFA just set a bunch of stuff up with JJ Abrahms never expecting to have to answer those questions himself and this was one that never going to have a satisfying answer, it was a poorly made 'mystery box.' While I don't care for this premise though I did feel it was executed about as well as it could have been. Another issue I have with the movie is it feels very confused about the idea of sacrifice, and when it is or isn't acceptable. Po sacrifices a bomber squad to take out a dreadnaught: Bad. People staying behind on the who ships running out of fuel and Holdo sacrificing herself to attack the star destroyer? Good! Finn sacrificing himself to destroy the cannon about to blast their base: Bad! Luke sacrificing himself to stall Kylo Ren? Good! Po is demoted and chastised for sending in the bombers to take out the dreadnaught. But at the end of the movie after his ploy backfires and he gets even more of the resistance killed, it's a mistake to learn from? The movie feels very confused about its messages at times with no real clarification on which sacrifices are a needless waste of life and which ones are good actually. Ultimately I have mixed feelings about it. But it is the only movie in the Sequel Trilogy that I RESPECT. TFA leaned in WAY too hard on OT nostalgia. Bringing back what was basically Rebels vs Empire 2.0. What's basically a third death star but BIGGER this time. A new force sensitive protagonist from a desert planet. The Milleneum Falcon! Another droid with an important message. ROS was a shameless overcorrection to TLJ being divisive and an utterly dumpster fire of a movie overall. TLJ at least had new ideas to explore. Some of them I liked, some I didn't. But at least it was willing to take chances. At least it had a vision behind it beyond recycling the OT. It is the only one of the three willing to go in new directions. Whatever its flaws, it is by far the most interesting of the three for me.

"When he doesn't agree with her plan." SHE NEVER TOLD HIM HER PLAN!! Sorry, but, if you can't get that extremely basic thing that the movie makes explicitly clear is the case, your opinion is kind of useless. That's a major thing to just not notice.
