I got to work on this set. I was working on all of the outdoor night scenes. Let me be perfectly honest, the flaming tuba playing at 3AM is extremely creepy and one of the most ominous things I’ve ever heard in the woods.
@sunnysied713
@sunnysied713 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the flaming tuba wasn't very scary or ominous on screen. The direction, scene, etc had very little dramatic weight. Werewolf by Night was very corny. It could've actually been something really special.

8:04 “He who knows fear burns at the Man-Things touch.” Is essentially his power set. He is also a nexus guardian to the gateway of the multiverse in the Everglades, which is where a tear into the multiverse resides. Dr Theodore Sallis was experimenting on super soldier serum, so that’s how he connects to the MCU in some capacity. Jack Russell’s werewolf design was very accurate and reminiscent to his design the old comics with his first appearance. Fun fact: moon knight debuted in a werewolf by night comic to hunt Jack down! Perhaps we could see them cross paths at some point down the line.

10:56 I believe all the monsters that they had slain and even captured (the Man-thing especially, despite of their competency), is due to the use of the bloodstone. It is a very powerful relic that is able to control and kill any monsters, hence why the desire to have it in their possession of hunters and the family itself after the owner had died. Also, since the wife/widow isn't the recognised owner i guess she couldn't use the bloodstone to its utmost potential which is why it took her so long to try and kill werewolf.

To be fair, Ulysses was the ultimate monster hunter and did most the kills of the heads in the house. The ritual was to find a replacement -- and the Bloodstone is what made the master hunter so badass. That is how they captured Man-Thing. Notice how the monster had to be weakened for these hunters -- they probably only fought B-team monsters in the past.

Man-Thing (Ted) was awesome, but the Werewolf (Jack) was super-cheesey and not terrifying. The character design was awful. Man-Thing is like an eldritchian horror and the Werewolf looks like his was pulled from a low budget and boring 1950s movie.

@@JustSomeDinosaurPerson I understand that it's supposed to be a love-letter to old B-horror movies. The story, characters and acting were still bland and it was of similar low quality as the old 1950s movies (so mission accomplished? Lol). The creature design of the Werewolf and Man-Thing are tonally and stylistically at clash with one another. They felt out of place. Werewolf looked like he was yanked straight out of a cheesey 1950s horror movie set. Man-Thing was modern Vfx design, which was nothing like an old grind house movie. For retro horror movies, Werewolf by Night is forgettable and the love letter falls flat.

It is nice to see Marvel finally give us some dismemberment, a good amount of blood and cool death scenes. I don't understand why this was chosen as a special, instead of a series. I definitely want more. I would rate this either 1 or 2 spot with Loki. Knowing the conclusion of Wanda's story in Dr. Strange and The Multiverse of Madness i would bump down WandaVision. Falcon and Winter Soldier would be 3rd then Hawkeye with Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk being at the bottom.

As a classic movie fan this has easily become one of my favorites, loved every second of Werewolf by Night and especially bringing back the Lon Chaney Jr. style werewolf.

This is a 9/10 for me (extra point for the good old practical effect stuff and the 1930's theme). I was getting tired of the CGI-fested movies as of late and this was a great refresher.

I’m really hoping this is the jump off point of the Midnight Sons stuff that’s been rumored. This is def a stand out in the Disney plus Marvel-Scape. I want marvel to dig into the dark side of the hero stuff, the campy avengers style shows and movies feel so stale and similar, more of this is what marvel needs.

It's not Hammer Horror Joe. That was farther down the line during the era of color films. This, by the directors own words, was a callback to the 30's and 40s Universal Era.

A very fair verdict on this one. As an uber-Marvel fan, I'd love to give all the work solid 10s, but that's just not feasible in any fandom, haha. I love the Werewolf-By Night character, and I hope this eventually leads to the introduction of the SHIELD Monster Squad (or the New Howling Commandos) at some point. "He who knows fear burns at the Man-Thing's touch" :D wish that got inputted somewhere, but it's still cool that Man-Thing was there at all. Truly a lovable character, and would actually be a great addition with the Multiverse beginning to fracture as he is the Guardian of the Nexus of Worlds. I wasn't 100% on Elsa Bloodstone, though...but eh...I guess I didn't hate her.

Is a huge fan of Werewolf by Night comics and owning a lot of them I say they did this right. Now we need to see Marvel Dracula and Werewolf by Night definitely Moon Knight versus WBN. Is it also be a great segue to Marvel monsters which included Man Thing, Ghost Rider, Morbius and WBN.
