I don’t remember exactly where I read it and most Wikis are vague about it (I think it was in an epilogue log file?). But according to the official Wild Storm comics (breezewiki): One of his teammates was injured during a mission. The Commanding Officer ordered Chris to abandon him, which he ignored that order and ended up saving him. This is consistent with his “leave no man behind” attitude as evident of his actions in RE: 6, 7 DLC, and 8. Ergo, it’s very plausible on why he was discharged.

i won't forget when the game came out. I had a 14 hour session on it. I was pretty tired by the end, and made it as far as the island and couldn't finish it until later that day. tried to do everything I could in it, otherwise I would have beaten the game much sooner. been playing long sessions on these games since re2 remake. 4 is the only one I didn't do in one sitting

Crapcom is already dead as far as I'm concerned. Even if they do reverse this in the future if the backlash is strong enough (which, by the way, I find unlikely as Crapcom has already added Enigma DRM to multiple games such as some Mega Man and Street Fighter collections, not just Revelations, according to a topic on the Steam Forums keeping track of this), this just goes on to show that as long as corporations always dictate the game and its rules, we have no rights but to enjoy the mess they're creating for us. There is no goodwill to find anywhere. They cannot go back to an old game to modernize it a bit and maybe fix some more bugs, but they can add, at any point, new DRM to screw over legitimate customers long after the game stopped receiving updates, and is long unsupported (or so we would think, it seems). We own nothing, it can be taken away from us at any point, for any reason, and we will LIKE it, in their book... Because they can, and we're not united to fight this back as we should.
