Westinghouse is a feature-length documentary about the life and times of George Westinghouse, his companies, legacy, personality, partnership with Nikola Tesla, and conflict with Thomas Edison. George Westinghouse is considered America’s greatest industrialist and the only man who would go up against Thomas Edison, and win.
Please subscribe and share for more great documentaries! bit.ly/GreatDocumentaries
His victory over Edison during the Battle of the Currents set the stage for the entire future of electric power. The Westinghouse air brake is considered one of the most important inventions in history. Automobile shock absorbers, railroad signaling and the modern day weekend all owe their existence to the man who Andrew Carnegie called, “A genius who can’t be downed.” Westinghouse may be most famous for the massive companies that he created, but the man called “Uncle George” was a reserved creative giant who went out of his way to treat his workforce with dignity and respect. He was an honest millionaire in the days of robber barons, an optimist in the days of skeptics, and a generous CEO from whom today’s executives can learn.
Narrated by Emmy award winner Carol Lee Espy, a TV/radio host for KDKA Radio, which was the first commercial radio station in the country. Originally owned by Westinghouse until the company’s merger with CBS in 1996, the station made history by airing their first broadcast from the Westinghouse Building in East Pittsburgh in 1920. Carol is also a singer, songwriter, and producer whose voice can be heard on national PBS productions. In 2001 she helped to launch “On Q”, a news magazine at WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, and became the voice of WQED. Since then Espy has won two Mid-Atlantic Emmys for her writing and producing and seven nominations for writing/producing and music composition.

I loved these 36 chapters. In my life as an electrical engineer i never knew about the marvelous man. Today (Jan2021) i have the privilege to work for Westinghouse Electric Corporation (nuclear) in Pittsburgh. What a wonderful moment to be part of George Westinghouse's legacy. Well done on the making of this film. Very inspiring.

Westinghouse truly was a great man who didn't get near the honor due him and was humble with all the integrity that Edison lacked , who got a lot of acclaim he didn't deserve . Westinghouse is no longer owned by the family , it was swindled away from them m mostly by scumbag morgan and his banker cronies

Poor management of our USA businesses not uncommon. Over time, short term profit eventually dominates even the best operations. Few far sighted managers last within a priority of corporate policy of where instant quarterly return on investment reigns.... what else can our system offer..?

Wow, this was DEEP. I love history, but I never knew there was a "battle" between Westinghouse and Edison. The way Edison did Tesla was low down, but Westinghouse saw the value in him and Embraced it. Westinghouse was human and he treated everyone as humans should. We needed and still need people like him in the world. It would be a much better place.

I started working in the electrical trade on industrial sites at the age of 15. I have to confess that I lied about my age to get the job. That job changed my whole life I went to school in the study of electricity for 2 years and came out with a trade certificate and eventually became an apprentice electrician. I specialized in industrial electric systems and eventually in control electrical systems. I can tell you one thing electricians who work with three phase motors and industrial systems no two names as the fathers of the electrical industry the first one is Tesla and the second one is Westinghouse.

In grade school, I had to do a report on electricity and its applications, folder form, with illustrated pages depicting assigned topics like dynamos, household appliances, electrified rail lines, and so on. I added an unassigned postscript- a convict strapped to an electric chair and the slogan beneath him: “You can be sure… if it’s Westinghouse!” I got extra credit.

By the time of the Columbia Exposition Edison had been run out of GE. GE sold its first AC generating station at the World's Fair, the Pelzer hydroelectric plant in Pelzer SC. It went online in 1894 and is still in operation today. The oldest continuously operating power plant in the world. GE's Pelzer plant went online over a year before Niagara. Edison was a showman and an idiot and everyone knew it. GE's CP Steinmetz was the true genius of AC theory and effective and efficient machinery.

Wow, documentaries like this should be more widely played, to me, before watching this, Westinghouse was just a firm that made white goods, fridges freezers eg but I had no idea what a driving force he was in industry, particularly the railways. I did not know the safe breaking system on trains was his invention & he encouraged his staff to invent things & gave them credit if they came up with a good idea. Edison must have been a real barstard & a snake & yet he gets credited for other peoples inventions that he either bought their patents cheap or just stole them outright. The way that the banks crippled Westinghouse at the end & rolled back his workers rights was just wrong, I might have to watch this video again, well done to the team that made it.

He had major regrets of his actions and affiliations with frick especially the homestead debacle (strike that turned fatally violent) and the Jones Town massacre due to the damm break after lowering it for their gentlemens club. First you say trains could be made longer and heavier than before, carrying more goods and people and in turn making more money for train owners, then you say they had no interest or incentives to install this new braking system because the old way worked fine,so what if men die, which is it,it's not always the owners that are devils.

Jesus is indeed Lucifer the Morning Star, which is why Isaiah 14:12 lists Lucifer as the Morning Star and then Jesus calls himself the Morning Star in Rev 22:16. The reason Christians fail to see the obvious is because they are brainwashed by their churches into reading the Bible BACKWARDS and reading the New Testament BEFORE the Old Testament. We read books from FRONT TO BACK for a reason, and that is because you can't possibly understand the end of a book that you don't understand the beginning of. And it is not even possible to fully understand a book from reading the LAST QUARTER of it. With that being said...----> Adam and Eve were NOT first, and the 2 stories of Creation in Genesis are NOT about the same Creation as the Christian church teaches. GOD makes people on the 6th day of Creation in Genesis 1:26. Then in Genesis chapter 2 God rests, God sanctifies the 7th day, and then the LORD God of Israel creates Adam and Eve on the 7th day of Creation. To work on the 7th day that God has blessed and sanctified is BLASPHEMY, which is what makes the LORD God SATAN the LORD of this world. That also makes clear that Adam and Eve were NOT FIRST, they were made second. Doesn't the 6th day of Creation come BEFORE the 7th day of Creation?----> The family lineage that begins with Adam and ends with Jesus is the family lineage made by SATAN the LORD God, not God. That's why Isaiah 14:12 lists Lucifer as the Morning Star, and then Jesus calls himself the Morning Star in Rev 22:16. Jesus was Lucifer in the flesh, not God in the flesh. Jesus is Lucifer the Morning Star! Go to my channel for more details... That NEW WORLD Order that Alex Jones and other GOP Christians pretend to fight is really the goal of Christianity otherwise known as the NEW EARTH (Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22, 2 Peter 3:13, Rev 21:1) to be ruled by the New Jerusalem. The New Earth is where the nations are destroyed and massed together for a world government that will be on the shoulders of Jesus. Well, isn't the New World Order a world government as well? And gee, New Earth even sounds exactly like New World, doesn't it? That is not a coincidence, the New Earth is indeed the New World Order. It's all right there in your NEW WORLD Translation Bible if you actually bothered to read it...

Westinghouse was never in any "partnership with Nikola Tesla." This is Tesla's fanboy talk, the legendary gnat with a hard-on floating down the river on its back and shouting "raise the bridge." Tesla was a boozy self-publicist who appointed himself a Westinghouse promoter during the Edison-Westinghouse fight over AC vs. DC municipal power distribution. Westinghouse won on the physical realities of the case and Tesla never shut up from there on out. Eventually the Plaza Hotel demanded that Tesla pay his bar and room bills and threw him out on the street when he didn't pay. Tesla escaped jail for his various airy stock-market promotions, but died in well-earnd poverty. Pffft.
