I have been super busy, probably too busy, but there's been good reason for it. For the last couple of months I have been helping my son's with their first house purchase and all the renovations that have been required. It has taken all my time and energy, and a chunk of cash too! It has been good though, and a special time for us all to get into a project together and kickstart things for them. You get to see the project on a little guided tour.
The downside is that the channel has suffered a bit. I have really enjoyed starting this channel, the connections I have made and the fun making the videos. To be completely honest I don't really know what people love watching, I just know what I enjoy; honest, fun loving and at times a bit of a deeper dive into the stuff we all carry and sometimes struggle with. Life is all of these things and I want a channel that reflects that.
Anyway, I squeezed this ride into a Sunday morning before I went off up to Preston for an induction week for a job that I have started, my first proper employed roll in a long long time! There's a bit of chatty bit at the end explaining why and what's changing. It should bring some more balance and TIME!! We need more time in our lives.
Also, just a little plug for a great book I've just finished reading. Hit The Road Jac, by Jacqui Furneaux. An amazing read for anyone who loves a bit of moto touring.

I am now 55 and have been working as a dentist for 30 years, 27 of them self-employed. And even though I am successful in my job and earn a relatively large amount of money, I long for a change. I no longer want to work alone, but more in a team. I would like to give away some responsibility and devote more time to my actual work. That's why I made the decision to close my practice and switch to employment. As you get older you become reasonable. Thank you for your great videos, they touch me. If you ever come to Northern Germany, contact me. Then we'll go on tour together. Thanks! Chris

Thanks Chris. Coming to northern Germany would be great. There is a chance I'll be doing a trip over to Hamburg sometime this year and then on to Norway. I'll let you know. You're so right when you say we become more reasonable as we age. That's a good thing I think.

Matt, your doing a great job for your son there , a legacy that will bond your relationship and one day you will have a beer with him in it when its done. These time are important, I had a similar time with my dad who helped me with my house and it provides an important bond now. Well done on making a decision for yourself, one of jordan petersons 12 rules for life is ' treat yourself like someone your responsible for' this makes me think when im running myself into the floor with work. Keep up the honesty and great content.

Thanks Lee. Yea, it's been a really special time (tiring too!). That rule from JP's book is one of the hardest I think as it requires you put your needs first occasionally, not an easy thing! Thanks so much for the comment mate, much appreciated.

Apparently 8/10 buyers are Bristolians relocating. Not sure if that is entirely accurate, but I do understand the draw to Weston. Always loved the place.

I met Jaqcui Furneau at Woodrow’s in Swansea a few weeks ago. A great talk by a fascinating lady. I got a signed copy of her book of course. I haven’t started it yet but I’m sure it’s a great read. Good luck with the new job.

That's good to hear mate. Good to get the balance right. I've probably pushed myself a bit too hard for a number of years, not the healthiest thing to do in the long run. This does feel like a better balance.

And there was me thinking you were gonna take us for a walk down the Pier when you had it in full view of the camera. I too love the sea, it's one of the reasons I enjoy being out at the end of piers, especially when it's windy, gazing out into the distance and soaking up the wind and spray. I was self employed, until the branch I was in, was hit hard economically, and my money started to run out, so I quit and worked in the same field of work, but as a branch Manager. Oh dear, having been used to doing things my own way, making my own decisions and catering for my own customers, the general working atmosphere and communication with head office rotted so I quit. So, now what? Quite by chance, I was offered an opportunity in a completely different field of work and spontainiously said Yes! I took to it like a fish does to water, worked my way up through the ranks and finally retired after 20 years of fulfilling work there. I consider myself lucky, when comparing myself to some of my mates, who only go to their work, and hold it out for the wage paket and the next weekend....,for want of a better comparision. So all the best of luck Matt with your next, or new career adventure, hope all goes well. If not, we'll go Moto touring together, between each House rebuild!

Haha, that sounds like a good plan! Honestly miss the touring thing, would love to be back out there soon on a new adventure. Glad things turned out well for you though, not everyone's story. Work is best when it's something we enjoy, at least a bit...

You " don't really know what people love watching", your words! If you just do what YOU like doing BEST, you'll do it with heart and conviction. Then, you'll automatically find your viewers, viewers that will come again because, it's obvious that you are a genuine Lad! Never try running around trying to please us, or you'll run yourselft into the ground and have nothing left you can truely be proud of..., or ther next burnout! Just remember the channel Name alon the way, and give us a regular dose of Thunderbird content, along with whatever else you feel the need to express yourself with here, and we'll see ya in the next episode... bye4now!

So i just got my own Thunderbird Sport (1997). But i'm a bit confused with what fuel to put in for it, E5 or E10. GovUK says that E10 should be fine but i know the manual says RON95. What are you typically filling up with?
@thebristolthunderbird
@thebristolthunderbird 3 ай бұрын
Hi Alex. I use either without any issues. I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think there is a carb conversion for the Thunderbird which makes using either no issue. Someone can possible enlighten me on this but possibly something to do with the gaskets and how they respond to the different fuel grades?
