just curious do volume builders (i.e Metricon, Clarendon, Brighton homes etc) use your service for installing the waterproofing membrane and waterstop? I live in QLD , and your videos have been so informative , thanks

Quick question point 9 said it shouldn't be used as a construction element, I agree. But I've had a builder in the past argue that he didn't need to bandage the villaboard in a wet area and that the waterproofing bandage would be good enough to bridge it after a few coats. I ended up walking from that job after going over the rest of the job and picking up bodgy things that I didn't want to touch or risk. But my question is, those details need to be done afaik, but it's fine to use backing rod and silicon for floor and corner details but not to bridge wall sheet joins?

Hi Nicko, thank you for watching! Ultimately, all substrates should be installed as per the manufacturer's recommendations in line with the relevant construction standards enforced at the time. This is a common and explicit stipulation documented by membrane manufacturers before applying any waterproofing system. This is not a question of whether an alternative method will do the job, or is suitable, as chances are that a waterproof membrane and bandage system over unflushed Villaboard joints may be fine long term. It is however a question of culpability, and the use of unsanctioned alternatives in the event of a failure. Especially when the waterproofer knowingly accepts a substrate not installed to spec. Applying a membrane system over properly installed surfaces removes any ambiguity. We hope this helps :)
