Some oils might be healthier than others. Extra virgin olive oil, for instance, is applauded for having more antioxidants than regular olive oil. But does that mean it’s a health food? How do oils stack up against their whole food sources? Take 100 grams of olives versus 100 grams of olive oil.

This video forgot about Vitamin E and extra virgin olive oil has a lot of it and no salt. It also has Vitamin K and Oleocanthal so when they said none of these they forgot about these 3.

Love this! THIS is what I'll share when people ignorantly ask "what about healthy oils?"

Don't use healthy balsamic vinegar on your salad because it is not a whole food and has no fiber and no Vitamin E or Lecithin.

Cover other oils too.

This covers ALL oils. People should also be aware that oil is added to almost every single processed/packaged food item. That is another reason why WFPB is the way to go.

Realistically compared to SAD (modern diet or high sugar and high fat deep fried starch battered foods and sweetened mayonnaise). I hate the term western diet because it's not like people in Asia for example don't know how to create there own cultural junk foods, trust me they do.

They do, but their "traditional" junk foods are generally no where near as unhealthy as western junk food. Dried fruits and little cakes/pastries with almost no frosting, and far less sugar.

The issue I have with this shortie, is that while I fully agree that whole olives have intrinsically far more in them than the oil that is pressed from them. Olives also to remain palatable have a ton of sodium in them. What number of olives should we eat at a meal? Indeed, should we eat them every day, even? Sodium is the #1 cause of heart failure; we've known this for over 100 years. Let's update this video shall we? Personally, I allow 2-3 olives twice/wk.

I dont think the good doctor can tell you exactly how many olives to eat at a meal since everyone's metabolic system is uniquely different based upon their genetics, body weight and height. In any case, if a person is eating a WFPB diet and your body is healthy, it will do what it always does in the metabolic process, it will eliminate excessive intake of sugar/salt/protein (through urination) that it doesn't need. The excess fat will be burned away by fasting and physical activity. And a doctor will surely give you a heads up long before heart failure. So I wouldn't be overly concerned. Use your own moderation.

@@spektred Thanks for the reply first of all. Secondly, I'm not _overly_ concerned nor in any minor manner either. Humans are far more similar than different, regardless of as you have cited, weight, genes, etc. If this were not so, few, if any of the studies and their conclusions, would not hold sufficient water to be put forth as some sort of intake regimen to be trusted. My point is essentially, please to all the docs we live by and make no mistake, this WFPB regimen is new and experimental, especially when aligned with a no or low SOS intake, don't tell us what not to do without a suggestion as to how much is fine and how much is dangerous. I began my change of lifestyle when I viewed FOK in Oct of 2011 for the first time, developing a high respect for both Tom and Caldwell. 'Round 'bout that epoch, I got introduced electronically, to the good Dr. G of NutritionFacts.org. Michael usually; however, not always, offers suggestions when he's not outing some silly study with his typical sarcasm. To end with moderation is a fine saying; however urban, but, in the end when it comes to excess sodium, that salt is so easily dissolved in water and like all else circulates in our bloodstream everywhere.

@@jageo48 I was going to write the same thing about the olives. The only ones available where we are, are loaded with Sodium.. would be great to have tasty olives without the salt

@@Dr.AnyaYushchenko Off the cuff, I read some time ago that olives need salt, at least initially to be palatable for human consumption. It's the curing process. I rinse mine before eating.
