EP.10 After completing our mandatory 14 day quarantine, we headed off to Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park.
We had recently had our Isuzu truck repaired and needed to test it out, before heading into remote areas. We had a few issues and incidents that required further repairs.
Apart from the 4WDing and camping, I completed a couple of super fast laps in the race buggy, and enjoyed the atmosphere at the Tavern.

Great Video, thanks for sharing. There's somewhere in Australia that makes swing down aerial mounts. If the base was up on the top corner of your bar work, the antenna could lay flat along the top of the cabin in woody situations, and give better radio performance when normal conditions suit to have it vertical as there would be no cabin shielding. Take care, stay safe, have a fantastic Festive Season, and enjoy your adventures in the New Year, Cheers.

Thanks BigKev glad you liked it. I will tell Karl about the swing down aerial as we certainly will need a better solution for the future. Hope you have an amazing Christmas and New Year and 2021 gives everyone a better year. cheers Katty

2.2db in that position is both shorter and will probably give you very similar range to the 6 that you broke. Have a look at Ronny Dahl's channel 4 Wheeling Australia where he did a test on exactly this.

That was very interesting, I have the same truck. I think a couple of those quite difficult sections are more suited to the narrower vehicles they were designed for. Not saying in a real pinch you couldn't do them, but I think your sides and maybe some other stuff may have gotten a bit bent if you had proceeded. I didn't know you had a CVJ replaced, what was the reason? The flares attached to the doors certainly did get in the way when you were fully articulated, I have AT tyres on mine, not the more aggressive tyres you have, I wonder if your tyres are of a slightly bigger diameter than mine? Are your tyres the Patriot RT units? I'm glad you have done this, it gives me more understanding on what the truck can do and within reason what is a bit difficult for it to do. We are still in lock down in Melbourne............................ My antenna is in the same position, but mine finishes just below the Dakar bars top; hopefully I won't do what you have done. Is yours an AMT transmission? Mine is manual. What is your trucks GVM as it was for this stuff? I'm guessing around 5.3T to 5.5T.
@nowhereboundtouring
@nowhereboundtouring 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Allan. Agree a lot of the tracks are quit narrow but we figure most tracks aren't made for a truck, so guess that will be life with a truck. The CV was replaced 5 off road hours ago, initial cause of failure is not really known, but finally broke in the sand at Jack Smiths Beach Victoria. Tyres are 37/13.5 Gladiators. We went for the long antenna for the range ie hangs above the cab for better reception. How does the shorter one perform? We have AMT transmission and vehicle ways 7 tonne. Hope you get out of lock down soon and hit the tracks. Cheers Katty and Karl

Love the little mog... would have split the tray to get more flex out of the chassis and still kept it on a diet ... guess atm it’s a outback truck not a great divide truck... 4x4 is always a compromise. Worked out of one great machine.

Nice vehicle How is your box body attached to the truck frame? We have intermediate frames as rhombuses or spring bearings (Fixed at the back with screws and springs at the front). So can the frame twist and the tires have more contact with the ground. For this purpose, no forces will be directed into the structure. Sorry for my "google" english Bernd
@nowhereboundtouring
@nowhereboundtouring 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernd, our truck tray is mounted to the chassis via six spring mounts (basically it sits on the chassis and the springs allow it to move away from the chassis as it flexes) Our box is mounted directly to the tray. Cheers Karl

@nowhereboundtouring

@@nowhereboundtouring Hey Karl, you can now buy and auto torque diff from All Terrain Warriors. Not quite a locker, but will transfer torque away from the spinning wheel to the wheel with the grip so would be way better than the standard open diff. Im also waiting for a reply from Nospin diffs to see if they make one of their auto lockers for the Isuzu front diff. Will let you know I know they do an auto locker for the rear
@nowhereboundtouring
@nowhereboundtouring 2 жыл бұрын
Gday Andy, We have the ATW front diff center. It is very good on sand, and on flat mud ( I actually think it is better than air lockers in these cases) but it is no good when you lift wheels. They say you can foot brake it to get the torque across to the wheel with traction, but I have found in real life this does not work. If I had a choice I will always pick air lockers. Cheers, karl

@@nowhereboundtouring Hey Karl, thanks for the explanation. Have you seen this vid? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/naecnbmpzMWnZas.html This guy has the same front auto locker and his truck seems pretty much unstoppable
@nowhereboundtouring
@nowhereboundtouring 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, Our truck performs about the same as the one in the video link ( ours is heavier). They perform very well in ruts and cross axle holes. Even deep steps don’t really worry the truck, as long as there is traction it goes over most stuff. It’s when you get harder and lift the front wheel completely off the ground, that the front lsd does not perform great. They are very capable, but I do not like slippery tracks. They pick up speed on the down slope, and can’t be stoped as easily as a 3t 4WD. Cheers, ka4l
