What are Buses, Sends and Auxes? - This week’s video is all about routing within mixing projects. Routing can seem like a daunting subject hearing the words buses, subgroups and aux channels. However, it can completely transform our workflow and change the way in which we approach a project. It gives us an option to work in a much more efficient, succinct fashion and reduces the chance of experiencing latency.
The video goes through what a bus is, the different types of buses, how to set up each type of bus and some different uses of aux sends. This video is aimed at beginner to intermediate home producers, engineers and musicians.
Topics and Timings:
1. Intro (0:00 - 1:40)
2. The Different Types of Buses (1:40 - 3:42)
3. How to Set Up Each Bus Type (3:42 - 5:37)
4. The Different Uses of Aux Sends (5:37 - 5:56)
5. Aux Sends and MIDI Instruments (5:56 - 7:05)
6. Aux Sends and Parallel Processing (7:05 - 8:29)
7. Final Thoughts (8:29 - 9:35)
The background music was written and produced by George Agombar.

This is probably the best explanation of the different types of buses that I've ever seen. Thank you.

Hi, a question! 1.I have a number of audio files mounted in Logic Pro X. They are all routed to the master bus (output 1/2) and I can monitor them without any problems. 2. Now I want to record a bass track for which I like to make a headphone mix. Here I decide what I want to hear and how loud I want to hear it. 3. For the headphone mix I have sent all the signals (including the bass signal) to a bus and this bus sent to the outputs 7/8 of my interface. 4. I have connected my headphones to output 7/8 and I can hear all signals comfortably except for the bass signal. This is the problem. Why doesn't Logic let me hear the bass signal when the track is armed? I can hear through outputs 7/8 the input signal of my bass by pressing the i box, but when I arm the track to record, then I can't hear it in my headphones. Where is the recording signal hidden? Can you tell me why this is? Thank you and greetings from Hamburg, Germany! Raffael

New to all this but it seems to me you missed on something vital - why use a bus as opposed to a send - aren't they just doing the same thing?

Thank you for the explanation!! Could've done without the incessant interlude music eating up view time, but... whatever!!

@@redpoint8823 She explained very well. It's really not nice to say you "hate" someone's video, especially when they're doing it to help others. That's why I commented the way I did.
