I donated 25 years ago. Missed a couple days of work, but the pain was minimal.

I donated when I was 10 years old, I could walk the same day, but stand straigt took me months. It was painful and probably the worst experience in my life, that was gaslighted in to believing it was a minor surgery…. I could not fall asleep, when I should, and was tired and sleepy the rest of the day… I had problematic issues with my stomach, I got cysters in my stomach… I got inflammation in alot of my body… And my concentration disappeared… The person that once could sit for hours drawing did not have the patience, for it anymore… It took me 22 years to finally discover that being a donor, from a young year is ABSOLUTELY NOT the same as a grown up, and SHOULD be followed up more then grown ups.. Btw, when I came to puberty, My weight exploded…

This depends on the donor and their recovery. When it comes to potential lost wages, many employers provide paid time off for donation. You may want to ask if your company has a policy for marrow or PBSC donation. Additionally, some states have laws requiring employers to provide paid donor leave. If your state does not have a law about donor leave and/or your employer is unable or unwilling to provide paid time off for donation, we will explore other options including our donor financial assistance fund to cover all or some of your lost wages. 💙💚 - Leslie
