Echo sent this question in to trick Jocko into letting him answer a question

Echo is the perfect balance for Jocko he takes the perspective of the listener, otherwise the podcast would be too intense and sharp.

Id listen to the Echo Podcast, where Echo talks about [anything], and Jocko sits back and just busts his chops.

Echo and Jocko: Still a better love story than Twilight

It's great chemistry. Echo brings out the humor and gives that "every man" angle.

I love how humble Echo is even though he can crack the heads of most men with his biceps alone.

At first, I didn't really care about Echo, I was into Jocko, and Echo to me was just like a random sidekick. But over time I realized he's a really interesting character. He is like clearly wicked tough, but also he is so nice and pure and has a heart of gold. That's actually a really special and valuable person. He's also very funny. And perfectly compliments big scary Jocko. Over time spent watching the podcasts I realize I enjoy more and more whenever Echo speaks.

I love Echo. In fact there are times I come to the Podcast purely for Echo. He's such a sweet, chill, self assured but humble guy. And you know someone is good when all the little devices just seem like a natural flow, but I'm a creative too and I see you and all the little imporTtant details

Simultaneously both inches and yet eternity away from one of them saying ‘you complete me’.

Love Echo! For a while I didn't know Echo Charles was his real name. I thought he was an ex military guy using a name.

I’ve learned to stop complaining personally, I used to wine about everything. And now I stop myself and realize how thankful I should be. That mentality alone changed my life big time. From my marriage and being a dad to my job. Keep after it!!

Charles is right about not wanting to do things then seeing it as a challenge and doing it. I told a friend of mines let’s go hiking. He’s like why? Since he knows I don’t like hiking but I love to workout. Anywho I told him I’m doing it because I don’t wanna do it. His response was like “okay, doesn’t make sense”. I’m like I know. But when you start doing the things you don’t wanna do life gets better and easier. Thank you jocko for that!!!!

Dang, echo does look jacked

Echo, great to hear your experiences. We have some things in common, we both lost a lot of hours to Hawaii 50. Another thing we have in common is learning from Jocko and taking responsibility. That will help me for the rest of my life. I needed a pick me up this morning as COVID-19 can get a doctor down.

The reason it sticks out when Jocko says it is because he freaking lives it. He eats, sleeps, and shits discipline and ownership and responsibility. The message he carries has depth and weight becuase he has made it who he is in the deepest parts within himself. Hes not selling anything, he is simply setting the example.

It''s interesting to watch myself.. AS I dedicate time towards watching/listening to the show & podcast. It's a form of me coming to terms with the limitations that I've placed onto myself, taking responsibility for that, and learning how to get after it. Because of this show I've learned about some key books and materials that have changed the course of my life. I've developed habits that are positive and crushed some negative ones. I start BJJ training in 2 weeks, all because of this podcast and content. It's so interesting to look back over the last 6 months and see a clear separation from the path that I was walking, and the one I'm walking now. Time to get after it.

ECHO is a very intetesting man. What I observe about him is not a lot of talking but when he talks it has real substance. I am up now everyday at 4:30 AM. So much better as said here, I get so much more done after hitting the gym first. ECHO, its a good life!!!

Echo is probably the most underrated and valuable sideman in media today. almost like Ed was to Johnny Carson. He'd take Jocko on the mat these days too. ty EC.

Seems like most podcasts out today were pollinated by Rogan in one fashion or another. Hell, Rogan is the reason how I discovered podcasts, comedy and guys like Bill Burr, Bert Kreisher and a bunch of others. He's been good for a lot of industries.

Echo has the exact image of what a man should be. Extremely humble and nice but strong as an ox who can go from 0 to 100 should the situation call for it. A true man.

For the longest time I never saw Jocko and Echo in color and I legit thought Echo had a burn on his arm. Only after seeing him in color did I realize its a badass tattoo lol

Very important lessons here. Both you and Jonny Kim just mentioned this as well. People not being "ready" to take a message is certainly a thing. Being in a program with younger people I would often try to give advice to people who even sought it, but didn't use it. I wondered if there was something about me that was deficient and i could never figure out why they wouldn't take the advice then go and make the exact mistake I tried to help them not make, so they learn the lesson the hard way because they weren't ready to listen. Any tips for overcoming this? Is it just credibility on my part? Or willingness on their end?
