Whenever an astronomer tries to explain how the universe started, someone inevitably asks, “Yes, but what came before the Big Bang?”. Humans know the Big Bang as the beginning of it all. About 13.8 billion years ago, our universe began with every speck of its energy jammed into a very tiny point. And then, an initial, exponential growth spurt known as cosmic inflation created everything we know today. But what happened before the Big Bang? What caused it? Did anything exist?

The fact that questions like these lead to more questions, more brain-scratching is what makes astronomy interesting. These questions push us towards researching more, discovering more, thinking more, analysing more. When we start to ruminate on such questions, we realise how insignificant we are and how little we know. Sometimes questions like these which we think aren't worth paying attention to or aren't smart end up revealing a whole new world of understanding to us. "We don't know" is the best way of living life, in my opinion. That makes us progress.

Another fact: If the inflation speed of the universe was a little slower, the universe would have collapsed back to singularity and nothing would exist. If the inflation speed of the universe was a little faster, the universe would have been ripped to plurality and nothing would exist. Btw, I'm so glad to have found this channel. Thank you Cosmo.

Hey Ardit!! I find it hard to think of everything coming from a little singularity.. But as for being cyclical. I can agree with that.. everything in existence is cyclical if you really stop and think about it.. even down to the history of man.. But that is not the mind blower.. the real mind blower is that it never ends.. There is no end to this space we call the universe.. Oh, the stars might end but if you could live forever and went in a straight line you would never come to the end.. Geez watching the end of this make me think just how cool it would be if we could find another big blue marble out there.. Well, I am back and it looks like you have been busy while I was gone.. excellent! Take care you guys.. hope this finds you healthy and happy..

Conscoiusness has the ability to be aware of itself without a body and by this I mean each and everyone of us is capable of this because we are all the same consciousness experiencing itself from a different perspective. Consciousness is not a product of the mind nor the universe. The universe is a product of the mind which is the servant of the conscious will. It is the mind which is manifesting the universe. It is therefore logical that the manifestation of the universe is really happening within the mind. Scietists are looking for aswers as to the beginning of the universe, in the wrong place when the answers are all within us. Remember we are consciousness capable of having been aware of itself before the existence of the mind and therefore also the universe.

Physicists go about matter and energy, as if that is all there is in the universe. They have no mathematical expression for intelligence, cognition. That, they say, is also the expression of energy. Just one fatal flaw in such a concept, that intelligence and cognition is just another expression of pure energy: energy is not introspective, intelligence and cognition are. So, there is more to the universe than matter and energy. Here, I will not press Vedanta. Let the critics travel all disciplines and find that out. Discovery is a process of resetting one's learning. That is volitional, cannot be imposed from without.

@@seanhewitt603 Thought is intelligence assimilating observation. I was on intelligence, which is introspective. Let me tell it like Tuld said in Margin Call, as if to a little child: Introspection is the power to look upon itself without com¹parison to an external vector. Like, it is the job of the hand to hold, it is the job of the mind to understand that the hand is holding, whose job is it then to understand that the mind has understood what the hand is doing. For it is the work of the hand to hold, the work of the mind to understand that the hand is holding, whose job is it to know that the mind has understood? Intelligence, a word that the English language provides. For English has no equivalent to the Sanskrit word "antahkarana", because Christian thought has been only so far. It is a limitation that one denies. Understandable. Having once been around the world as conquerors, it is not easy to concede to superiority of past cultures, or perhaps of civilisations in the future. To open one's mind to others, to new things, does not cone easy...

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong! Worms are fish. There's no need to call a digging spoon a shovel. Yellow kites attract the most wind. Europeans distrusted people with portable pocket and wrist watches, as they were notoriously bad at keeping accurate time, unlike the professionally-kept clock towers. The bad time-keeping bled over into overall distrust of the person trying to give you his personal time.

Nope. What caused god to exist? “He always existed” is NOT an logical answer” Because we could say the same for our universe than. We could “something” has always existed. We could say the universe existed from nothing and created everything from nothing. Using a deity is not an honest answer. Resorting to “I don’t understand it so therefore god” is a logical fallacy and extremely ignorant. There is NO verifiable evidence for that claim. There is zero FACTUAL proof to support that claim.

@@jdawgb7642 I feel numerous meaningful blessings and supportive nature in every moment. It seems illogical to me that a blind, unconscious force could create a meaningful life and provide countless blessings, such as teeth that help me eat throughout my life. These meaningful things are everywhere, like all emotions which make life meaningful and All things which I experience. Observing these meaningful aspects, I find it logical to believe in a supernatural power. I had a relationship with God prior thinking about the universe - and there is a variety of truth to discover that support the reality of God, then the universe is just another little confirmation, one however that points to the fact of how immensely powerful God is, not to be messed with, and not to be ignored

@@jdawgb7642 It's actually the opposite. One of the strongest arguments is that matter is only possible as the conditions for it to exist are finely tuned. This leads to the logical conclusion of a creator. This leads to a multiverse theory that there are infinite universes in which the universe in which matter exists is inevitable. There are no observations of this and only a matter of faith that it so. The logical observation of the universe is that there is a creator or God.

@@vasheedah, i wasnt waiting around 9 billion years for the solar system to form, so the dices can keep rolling themselves to infinity until they reach the optimal conditions for me to live in as i wont be observing that infinite amount of time to begin with (multiverse theory), even now there are alot of things we consider normal that are not ideal, having to eat other beings with brains for example. If the Big Bang initiated cosmic expansion then what is it expanding into? Infinity is hard to get your head around. Forever is a line with no end and no beginning. If space time is infinite then it must be being constantly created. The bottom line must be that time is a function of observation not experience. A tree experiences time yet does not observe it.
