What strikes me about the story of the Prodigal Son is, sometimes we are the lost son, other times we are the son who stayed on the homestead, but we have the choice to be like the father.

The son who learned his mistake is who Jesus sees as those coming to faith in him. But the actual prodigal son, is the one who was always close to the father, and who can’t fathom mercy being shown to the one who erred. That’s the people who are believers and think they earned their portion by loyalty. One son knew he was wrong, and was made right. The other thought he was right all along, and that his father (an allegory for God) was wrong in showing a sinner mercy. That’s the story.

AMEN. I stumbled upon your channel a week ago while I had several days off. Ended up binge watching daily as many of your videos as possible. God bless you, your family, your band of neighbors, supporters and all of your good works. Thank you for sharing your mind, experiences, high regard for the lessons of faith and family elders, life perspectives and your many talents and tools with all of us strangers. I'm a proud descendant of the original folks who sailed in treacherous journeys to pioneer a land their local neighbors desired to call "Vandalia/Westsylvania" as they were the "original Westerners vs. their East coast neighbors" whose disputes made them the more rugged minute men of America's early 1760's frontier through the birth of our free God trusting nation. I'm proudly a native son of this area, Southwestern Pennsylvania, home of the Whiskey Rebellion. With much love and respect, I look forward to each and every one of your videos, my West coast brother. My grandfathers for generations were a lot like how you describe yours. I bet they are all smiling at each other right now and if they were here I can only imagine how wild they would find it that their grandsons can connect in today's newest version of the Gutenberg press to share their wisdom and faith with our kindred spirits inhabiting the world today.

As an intelligent man of the world who has seen some of the true evils and unfairness of life I too found it hard to have faith in an invisible deity. It was only though age and a brush with serious illness that I made peace with God and know beyond question his existence. Best advice I can give you is accept that god is not to be found in any one religion or church, each proclaiming theirs is the correct way, god is in your soul and all around you. You don’t have to throw yourself to your knees and pray with clasped hands, just talk to him. Accept that you’re not perfect, don’t berate yourself for the mistakes you’ve made and inevitably will make again but just try your best to be the best version of yourself you can. Be kind but don’t be a pushover. Learn to appreciate the good, joyful and beautiful things in the world but don’t stop scanning the horizon. Good luck to you for the future.

Maybe this video was for you. Since I found Jesus I’m the happiest I have ever been. God is amazing and through his grace we can be saved. Everyone to have ever lived is guilty of sin. We all fall short of Gods glory. But he loved us so much that he came to earth and died to take our place. So that even though we are guilty and fall short of perfection Gods blood covers us from all of our sins. All we need to do is believe God died for our sins and turn from our sins. We are not saved by works but by grace. It’s a free gift from God

As a man and a father i have been harder on my son than his sisters. I will love him always because he is mine. With that i take responsibility for raising him to be a fair, kind and loving man with the knowledge of right and wrong. If cornered with no choice but violence i have taught him to be ruthless. An absolute monster to ward off lesser attacker's. This is my gift to this world. It's always better to love and live but when evil comes knocking in its many form's...be fearless for god family and country.😊

The prodigal son was always told in church. I always was mad at that story for the other son who was mad that he worked hard and lived a modest life and kept the family together. Then his brother comes back after having the time of his life partying and having adventures spending all the money and then was welcomed back with his inheritance that he did not ask for yet. I learned after years of living on my own and then raising a family with my wife that the money doesn’t matter. It’s having your family together that makes everything worth while. Thanks for sharing this story. It made me see how I was the son who stayed home and mad about the other partying brother, to become the father I am now, celebrating having family together!

Many people think of Christian’s as arrogant or as if we think we are higher than others.. but the prerequisite to being saved is dying to self, my good deeds are but filthy rags in his sight, we are nothing but rotting corpses without Christ’s unmeasured mercy. A man had two sons. One worked for the forest service and made Scandinavian wood piles in his cool denim outfits. But his other son was prodigal. He lived on the East Coast and drank soy lattes all day. The upcoming struggle finally came. The woodchoping son acted accordingly, but the father had his beloved manservant give all the firewood to his profligate son who returned from the East. "Why father?" Asked the son who had worked so hard. "Why must I give my western hardwood to him?" The father replied, "He was lost, but now has returned."

I've heard a thousand versions of this story in my life and every single one delivers this same powerful message. Dont let this nugget slip by folks, it's an important one!

Thank you for sharing that story. I think many of us have those moments, even in adulthood. I’m guilty of straying away sometimes too and I have to bring myself back.

Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 My wife and I raised 3 children, and the path I had tried showing them as they grew up, they diverted from when they left home. After a few years, though, each one in turn came back to that path. Believe me, I prayed and still do pray for them constantly. I'm so thankful that our Father in Heaven looks after us, loves us, and tries teaching us in the same way.

I am currently in that journey. I will move back to my family in the next year. I am very moved how much of that story fits on my situation I have turned my back and did not know. Only in my failure was I able to see clearly what is important in live. I will never turn my back on my family again and keep us stronger. And for you good sir, I thank you, Storytelling is sometimes the best way to hear god speak. From a honest heart of another father. I thank you.

also one of my favorite. the father had respect for the son trying to make his own way but even more respect for returning home humble knowing his father was willing to let him fail on his own to grow
