Fun fact, Estinien *was* a Duskwight in 1.0. He had light grey skin. This changed in 2.0 when the devs decided to make the Elezen of Ishgard an offshoot of the Wildwood race. Another detail, Ishgard has a decently sized population of Duskwights in their territory because they face less racism there than over in Gridania. Because Gridania has the very strict pact with the Elementals, many Dusks and Moonkeepers living in and around the Shroud face violence from Grid’s military for poaching and logging in the region the Elementals own.

I'd say one thing that can distinguish keepers and seekers is keepers are more like panthers, seekers are more like lions. Also for your character, you should keep in mind, some characters like Krile, don't really follow the conventional naming of their race after being adopted into another culture. So who knows.

About Nanamo, Yes she is indeed a Dunesfolk despite her pale skin. According to the lore, city lalafells trend to have both blood in them but just in various proportions which led to mixed traits and appearance . Thus to decisively tell one's tribe you must look at their eyes! Plansfolks have vertical pupils that help them see better out there in the field where Dunesfolks got luminous eyes from their glossy protective layer which covers the pupils. Their naming traditions are also different. Male plansfolks follow a AB-CB pattern and females will use the pattern ABB-AB while Dunesfolk lalafell use the pattern AAB-CCB with two syllables B and females use the pattern AAB-AB all one syllable.

When I made my Highlander WoL, I went purely on aesthetics as I really didn't know anything about the lore. I was really pleased to discover just how well the backstory and characterization I'd developed for her over time fit with actual lore for her race! I love my Highlander girl

As a Seeker of Sun Miqo’te, my journey of seeking adventure through the deserts of Ul’Dah until a sudden ambush of monsters had me in the face of protecting a caravan that was passing by. It wasn’t long until he fell unconscious and was recused by the Caravan group. Once in Ul’Dah and meeting Momomi, he figured the best way to find his way back was to first rest and get himself back to full health. Although it would be long to where he would find himself in the gladiator’s guild. Showing him that his sword skills can be improved in both offensive and defensive manners. That was when his journey of being a much stronger Miqo’te then his usual peers began.

My character is a female Xaela, and I relate strongly with the survival instinct. I went through a lot, and have a strong need to feel safe and able to defend myself (I'm always checking for nearby exits, carry a small knife in my purse, etc). My second choice was Duskwight, so neat to see that sort of suits me too. I did a lot of research and decided my WoL came from the Ura tribe, who live in the snowy mountains north of the Steppe and trade ores with the other tribes for food. The book exaggurates their aggression a tiny bit, some tribes focus on trade or have migrated away from the Steppe and aren't as violent. The tribes who don't usually join in the Nadaam (which is yearly since you were asking) are usually the friendliest ones, like the Mol and Ura. If you need a shortcut for telling Raen and Xaela apart, the Xaela have dark blue scales and the Raen have pale whitish scales.

I’m an Elezen Wildwood female; my original 1.0 character was a male Wildwood Elezen. So my new character to try something different was originally a female Hyur Midlander. I then switched her to the Elezen and it really suits her. Elezen is a lot like me in a way because of my religious family (Catholic) and I love nature so the Wildwood Elezen is a no-brainer. My wife gets upset at times that I tend to spend a lot of time playing my character 🤣 My Elezen has red hair and teal eyes. You can easily look her up on the Lodestone, as I’m the only character named Hayley Westenra (my character is named after the singer) in the whole of FFXIV (even every data center). I’m a Ninja main, too.

This was probably mentioned already, but you can tell the difference between Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon by their eyes and teeth. Sun cats have cat eyes with vertical pupils, and they have normal teeth. Moon cats have round pupils and sharp fangs.

This was such a fun video! I definitely think like those lalafell qualities and which I had more of it in real life 😂. And I'm a highlander in game and I do like the aspect of being a fighter!

I play a Hellsguard Roegadyn male named Highbrow Stonebender, and his patron is Byregot the builder. I came up with the name through many tangental thoughts stemming from the Futurama Episode "Bender's Game" and fueled by certain intoxicating flammable herbs. smart, paradoxical, arrogant, flows really well, and on brand with a hellsguard. If I were trapped in FFXIV all Sword Art Online style, Highbrow is who I would want to be.

I didn’t know any of this about the races, and it’s all so interesting! I started out as miqote and usually only pick miqote (before male viera came along) and learning this lore has really made me think about some things on my cat boy! “Extroverted introvert” I always consider myself an ambivert which is a balance of the two! So many of the races showcasing their traditions and whatnot through their attire honestly explains a lot - I know many people get frustrated when certain gear look a certain kind of way on one race versus another, but knowing there’s a reason behind it changes my outlook a little! (A little, because I still want to be able to wear a hat as viera and idk if it’s a design oversight or a lore thing but want it anyway LOL) I always choose what I do based purely on aesthetics, but somehow for miqote it works out almost perfectly! I kind of wish we had this lore during character creation tbh! It could be just a list of points, but I suppose having that info included in the book is an interesting way to learn everything too!

I fell in love with Keepers in the chara creation screen. Went for a black haired green eyed super pale Keeper catboy. I have a whole headcanon for him and never could find it in me to Fanta him into something else. My journey with him thru msq stuck with me and the only touch up I usually do is a haircut change every now and then.

Krile's name doesn't really follow Lalafell naming convention for an interesting reason: localization from the 90s. You see, Krile from 14 is a nod to the character in FF5 who had the same name, except the name in Japan was Kururu. When the 14 devs decided to bring in kururu as a character, they decided to make her a Lalafell, because 5's Kururu was a child and had a Lalafell sounding name. But during english localization, since she was a nod to FF5, they used the name that they had changed, and so Krile Mayer Baldesion has a distinctly non-lalafell sounding name in English

2:55 Okay, so if I go with catgirl she might be a black sheep. Keeper of the Moon maybe? Maybe Hyur? Characterization; she craves safety and comfort but doesn't really have a choice about being the Warrior of Light. She doesn't have the stomach for taking life and completely wilts when she thinks no one is looking(spoiler: she's not always as subtle as she thinks herself to be). From her perspective, the gods chose to make her as a weapon rather than a person, despite the scars and mold in the cracks in her soul, and with the world at stake, she has no choice but to play her part. Also considering tank, probably warrior, so I'm definitely going for op sad girl who really deserves to wreak havoc via trauma.

bento is a great box :0 I absolutely enjoyed this video and how it has gone more based on lore than meme-ish assumptions. Those videos are fun but I don't see many like this one :3 character info dump up ahead! So, when comparing the facts to my character, here is what my thoughts are: Ailbhe absolutely does not have a Miqo'te personality. He may have some traits, but deviates a lot. Though, this is likely because he grew up in a nuclear family rather than a tribe (a miqote mom and elezen dad. He inherited none of his dad's height lol). Because of this, he has no idea on a majority of miqo'te traditions and much less about his heritage. However, he is an adventurer, but usually his travels are much more job-based rather than just for fun. He does not like heat or lots of sunlight despite being a seeker. He wears the biggest possible hat for reasons. His name is absolutely not a miqo'te name but that has more to do with his specific backstory. I would also like to mention he is trans male and this plays a lot into his backstory.

I have a female ROEGADYN max height. I'm a guy who makes female characters, going back to my W. O. W. days. Once I got into ffxiv 2years ago it was a no brainer of making a female character again. Each race I read about, but I wanted tha tallest race that wasn't human, so tha female roegadyn was born 💯 👍🏾 I've main all DPS classes... As of today I main a NINJA 😎

Even though I'm an altaholic all the characters I've taken to the end of EW have been Lala's. Part of it is because I played the Lala equivalent in XI and I just preferred how being small and short meant it felt like I moved a lot faster than I actually was. But then I just fell in love with the kind of characterization I could give myself in both games. I'm a very tall, thickly built woman in real life so I get seen as this lumbering monster or some kind of tree for others to climb. I liked how playing a Lala/Taru made me feel cute and cuddly rather than sexy, which I feel is how I actually am as a person. And clothes look so good on us! It makes me feel like I can just be a little ball of joy and mischief, a hero who can wink at the camera and make a witty quip in a perilous moment who also just exists in this world like I'm a person that can just be and I have control over how much of a spectacle others can make me out to be.

I feel like Ishgardian Elezen are like a third clan that are different from the other two.

Very much an adventurer, there's few things Anne values more than travelling to new places, no matter how tough times seem, c'est la vie, we will make it at the end. Being born in a land torn between Gardlean rule and Ala Mhigan roots left her with little cultural ties but a strong desire for personal freedom, which encompasses even the gods of Etherys to which she pays little mind or reverence Furthermore, she is an inventor and an engineer at heart, between firearm training in the Garlean Military and her desire to understand how things work, it's no wonder she gravitated to Machinists almost immediately and holds the Ironworks in the highest regards It's impressive how well this matches with Hyur despite the fact that I never planned for it, turns out I'm a bit of a highlander IRL, now if only I could have her sense of fashion as well... maybe one day

Makes sense when you talked about highlanders being resilient fighters sellsswords grit. After all majority if not all of the highlanders come from Ala Migo Gyr Abania which we all know were harden to survive. I was an au ra raen for a week > a lala dunesfolk for a year > hyur highlander for about 2 years now and going xD I dont know what that means for me since i only really like lala and hyurs.

I play a Miqo'te Keeper of the Sun but seeing this really makes me think she'd be better suited to a Keeper of the Moon. I have thought about Fantasia'ing myself into a Keeper of the Moon for the big wide eyes. But, at the same time, I kind of like how despite the fact that my girl is supposed to be bubbly and sweet as sugar, the slit-eyes make her look just that little bit Fierce, like Do Not Mess With Me, I will Mess You Up! haha My Lore is basically, Magical Girl. Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Cardcaptor Sakura, that kinda thing. She's just a bubbly, sweet, loving girl who just wants to do the right thing. She loathes injustice, and will sacrifice herself without a second thought for those she loves. She was just a simple Adventurer who longed to see the world beyond the Twelveswood. She loves the colour pink, all her glams are Pink. But! I did make her have an Emo Phase when I played Shadowbringers and temporarily dressed her in All Black and gave her Black Hair with Pink Highlights haha. Also my Free Company is called The Emo Academy and my friends and I all own the Collegiate Attire as kind of our uniform, though we don't always wear them. I'm always on the hunt for cute glams, frilly dresses and skirts, anything with bows and ribbons, weapons covered in flowers or just have a cute enough look that I can dye them Pink and they fit my aesthetic. Also, she's in an on-again, off-again relationship with Thancred - because he's a Player :P Or at least, he was in the earlier expansions. But - Zenos has his eye on her because she fascinates him with her strength and will. Which worked out perfectly during Endwalker haha! And Ryne is my Kid, I've adopted her as my own since Shadowbringers. - Side note, I love the very Geralt-Ciri'like (The Witcher) relationship Thancred and Ryne have. ^_^ Personally speaking, if I were to start over, if I had the patience to really focus on an Alt Character and redo EVERYTHING in the game. I could probably go for an Elezen now I know more about them, they sound a lot like me. I'm a very fiercely individual, creative type, and I very much live in the past.

My character is a Male Seeker, I knew nothing about the lore when I started like just about 2 years ago I basically chose because I like the ears and tail on the race and of course the slit pupils like a cat XD Anyways, after a bit of learning more about the lore I changed my name to better suit it and took into account some of the lore and tried making a backstory for him more recently in the past few months. I do think of him being a bit solitary as he loves to go traveling around Eorzea or other places and just chill there by himself. He is one to take his tribes traditions seriously and a bit religious (I wonder how Miqo'te relgions work as the Seekers tend to worship Azemya and Seekers Menphina) which seems interesting though. I'm still working on him and what I'd like to do with his traits and personalities. I really want to know where in general all the seeker tribes would be located. We know some of them may be even if we don't see the tribe in general but by context of what other characters say. I do wish the Seeker tribes had lore to each one in depth like the Xaela's do cause I'd love to know a little more about what they do.
