Bale was absolutely a success. Extremely underrated. The greatest British player ever in my opinion. He was electric at Spurs, scoring ridiculous long shots and pulling off crazy dribbles every week. He dominated the prem and got a deserved transfer to Madrid. Sure, he was injured frequently. But the fact is Bale was World-class there, scoring loads of goals and for long periods he might have been the best player there who’s name isn’t Cristiano. And don’t get me started on the iconic performances. In terms of clutch performances, he does not have an equal. Won the copa deal Rey against THAT Barcelona team with THAT goal. Scored the game deciding goal in the 13-14 final. Assisted and sunk a pen on the 16 final. And produced one of the greatest performances of all time on the biggest stage imaginable in the 17 final. A bicycle kick and long shot in the champions league final is ridiculous. Anyone who seriously wants to say Bale wasn’t a success at Madrid surely must be kidding themselves. From the outside, the relationship did look toxic. But I firmly believe Bale was mistreated particularly by Zidane definitely by the Spanish media. He always gave his all for the club and put in a litany of world class performances. Simply put, I don’t think Bale did that much wrong and was instead unfairly attacked due to his injury problems. Bale came back to spurs for one season, playing infrequently. But when he did, he was superb and showed exactly why he’s one of the best in the business. Then he played for LAFC where had about 7 touches. His last one was in the 128th minute to tie the league cup final decider, which they won on pens. Once more only Bale is that clutch. And all this is not to mention what he achieved for Wales, with only 3 million. He dragged them to their first Euros where he took them to the semi finals (THE SEMI FINALS OF THE EUROS!!!). They beat #1 ranked Belgium, went further than England and were just incredible. That achievement is unbelievable and wouldn’t have happened without him. He then did the same for Wales for Euro 2020, where they once more made it out of the group stage. And finally, at the end of his career, an aging Bale scored all three goals in our World Cup 22 qualifiers. Two screamers against Austria and a long distance free kick against Ukraine. And then he scored Wales only goal against the USA. No man has EVER done what he did in the red of wales and is what makes him the best British player ever imo. Wales had qualified to one major tournament before him in 1964. He qualified for 3 and took Wales to heights they never should’ve been able to reach. Of course as a proud welsh man, I totally admit to nostalgia goggles. But Bale is a hero to the whole of Wales and I don’t think there’s ever been a Welshman more loved or revered. On his day, he was unplayable. Many people say that after Messi and CR7, Neymar is the best player of that generation. I politely disagree. For me it’s Gareth Bale ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Moving to Real Madrid is nightmare to many players. You not only need to be the best, but also the most marketeable and because your fee is likely overflown you need to able to fit on the system of the 3 - 4 coches you will see in your career. If you are not able to fit complete different systems, since your tranfer fee was astronomical they cant quite sell you so they keep you in the bench and your career will wither away. Also, the team often buys world class players to prevent champions league competitions from getting them rather than actually wanting to use said player.

I am a Real Madrid fan and have watched many matches throughout Bale´s years in Real Madrid. Too many injuries, but he was almost unstoppable until he was 28 years of age. From there onwards his physical condition decayed. He wasnt as fasta and powerful as he once had been. He still scored important goals (his habilities were not inly speed and power), but his level was not the same.

His inconsistency was our main problem but whenever he was in form, he won us trophies. Love the guy, was a beast at his prime, sad to see him retire, he had to go through our ( Madridistas ) extreme expectations. Most divided player ever but he didn't help himself by disrespecting our club.

Honestly, Bale always had a place in my heart as someone who could have easily been one of the best, but couldn’t because of others. The fact that zidane kept him as a sub just because of his person feelings, yet he still managed to lead Madrid to a trophy is really upsetting. He gets constant hate for no reason. Really? Nothing happened "to" him. More like Real Madrid just happened to itself. When you sign for this club you should know that your options are limited. It's the adaptability to a status quo, your relationship with Spanish media, and especially with the coach. IMO he did what he wanted to do, he wasnt the kind of player to aim for 5 ballon d'ors or whatever, guy just did his thing and let life fall into place.
