Interesting… The thumbnail doesn’t show any people of colour I think it’s important to express that street style was definitely something owned by people of colour (probably primarily) as a way to reject societal standards, embrace culture and also promote positive and unique self expression… now we see people in Jordan’s and oversized clothes and it’s important to note that came out of embracing urban-ness for lack of better word… once something is adopted by Eurocentric figures it tends to explode. I don’t think you can really talk about street style without talking about the black community that created it. I know this video was mostly about how celebrities “street style” looks are created but I think it would be interesting if you made another video on the specific clothing we think of when we hear the term “street style”

Ok, I really do not bother to post negative comments, but you helped create shit. Street style was created by actual people in the streets, usually black and usually creating a look when you do not have designer money for designer brands. Then fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld and others stole these ideas and called them their own. Stylist followed by dressing celebs in these clothes and now you claim it as your own. Girl, please!

What is Street Style? Hip Hop Style that has now been renamed as "Street Style" now that non blacks are wearing it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Not long ago street style was huge with Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan styled by Rachel Zoe (I was obsessed with Nicole Richie's street style very hobo 70's chic and those neon colour Balenciaga city bags she carried (ahhh they were dope), Olsen twins' street style (with big sunglasses, oversize bags and Starbucks cups in their hands), Kirsten Dunst was also killing it (vintage hipster I would name her style), mostly young Hollywood actresses of the time like Christina Ricci, Alicia Silverstone, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Claire Danes (cool girl from Romeo+Juliet with Leo at the times) . What mega names were wearing was all over Seventeen, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Instyle etc. like JLo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah jessica Parker etc. (from their hair cuts to bags they carry)... Now trend is what influencers, TV characters, KZfaqrs, celebs are wearing. Models like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Trish Goff, Amber Valetta, Shalom Harlow, Agyness Deyn, Erin O'Connor, were super style-icons in late 90's and early 2000's to Erin Wasson, Frida Gustavsson, Abbey Lee's street style into 2010's. (check the sartorialist and facehunter archives) I think everyone turns to street style for daily inspo - mostly of their style heroines or new comers as style icons change so quickly even style bloggers/insta girls' popularity change quickly and someone new comes in spotlight. It's all about the hype now. Even hot brands come and go like hit songs. And some people are like the one hit song maker band from 90's you never heard ever again. Classics will be classics forever and will be in the fashion archieves forever. What you did with Hailey was groundbreaking and super effortless looking at the same time, and can't wait for new looks for inspo with Megan Fox- hoping to get some Y2K inspiration for my summer looks :D I love Blumarine SS22 collection looks btw. Can't wait to wear y2k jeans again.

Loved the video, but wished that you brought up examples including people of color. A lot of style influence comes from places that are highly looked away from due to poverty, or racism. Love your styling, but I want to challenge you to think about the examples you think are worthy naming (one client of color you didn't mention was Lori Harvey)- for the sake of including everyone and anyone who aspires to share their craft like you.

Hi Maeve! I'm a business and management student taking my bachelors degree but fashion has always been a bigger fashion of mine. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for those who wish to study fashion here where I live so I'm planing on moving after my bachelors degree is complete and take a masters in fashion marketing somewhere else. In the mean time, I love watching your videos because not only do I like your style and see you as an inspiration but I also find your videos really informative and they keep my love for fashion going.
