TEDx Talks

5 жыл бұрын

Music is described and identified in multiple ways and categorised based on genres, regions, languages of composition, instrumentation, intonations etc. In this talk, Anuja Kamat, explains what gives music its identity through a vocal demonstration of the finer nuances of music. She takes the audience on a melodious, musical ride, busts common misconceptions and shares a new approach to understand, learn and practice music. As a child, Anuja Kamat took some time to come to terms with the traditional process of learning classical music. She went on to earn a Master’s in music from Mumbai University. Her curiosity & desire to share what she learnt in a unique way, led her to start a KZfaq channel 'Out of the Shruti Box', which has garnered over 1,40,000+ subscribers. Her videos offer simple examples, analogies and illustrations to understand Hindustani music and connect well with audiences, world-over. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR IGNORANCE ANUJA KAMAT 😑👎 RBAAB is NOT Afghanistani musical instrument!! 😡 RBAAB WAS CREATED BY GURU NAANAK DEV JI OF INDIA. AND ITS VERY WELL KNOWN. Can not believe your poor knowledge and that you showed your poor knowledge to the whole world in TedTalk. 🙄🙄 The music director of the film used RBAAB to make the music of that song to show that area's music because that's a similar instrument used in that area as well. 😑

"Music has a flavour, a grammar, a literature and a philosophy. And most of all, it's our intention and emotion which gives it an identity, which lies beyond the sphere of forms and techniques which separate these musical traditions and schools." Anuja, I am your fan for bringing music out to a common mind, putting it like every other topic, that too in a scientific - academic but comprehensive way. Thanks.

Anddddd there goes a true ambassador for the surreal, inimitable essence that is Goa, an oasis so deviously maligned as the home of vice, laziness, and sin. This enlightened being has tuned into the wisdom continually hummed by the ocean surf, whistled by the wind, breathed by the dancing coconut fronds and whispered by the rain-scent of the meteor - dust kissed fields.. Goa is a muse, a benevolent alchemist, changing lost souls to eternal creative Spirit... Miss Kamat's is the much needed elusive, Quixotic, hypnotic ode to my homeland, Goa
