Imagine if some time travelling Daleks find his casing, they use the remains of Dalek Sec’s DNA to produce a clone of him, bringing Dalek Sec back.

Such a theory would fit with how brilliant Dalek Sec was, using every precious resource they had left to the fullest extent. Sec certainly never seemed like the type to wantonly waste resources, even when he was still firmly for the Dalek Cause.

In-universe, Daleks are made out to be permanently locked into their casing from birth to death, sometimes even physically grafted into its mechanisms. A Dalek being separated from its casing could very well be life-threatening. But I’m willing to bet the real reason this never happens is simply because they don’t want to confuse the audience. The casing is the only visual indicator we have of a Dalek’s identity, so if they start messing with that as a reliable way to tell, we’d never be able to look at a Dalek shell again without also thinking about who is operating it. Best for them not to even introduce that complication.

This theory is pretty in line with my headcanon of the casing. That being that they had effectively gutted the inside of if to comfortably fit both the mutant and human host while hybridization took place, which is why it lacks some of the larger internals you might expect to see otherwise.

I assumed the Doctor found it and kept it somewhere in the Tardis after cleaning up, where it still lies to this day. Would be irresponsible to leave such a dangerous piece of tech just lying around...

The question is - what happened to the destroyed casings of Daleks Thay and Jast? As well as the corpses of the Dalek Humans and Dalek Sec himself?

I know we're talking in context of Lore and in universe but I always found it straight that they brought the Dalek Sec casing back as a background Dalek in the Magician's Apprentice and The Witches Familiar. It didn't even talk to my memory. Just whirred around.

The way I always saw it was as a metaphor. As once they no longer respected dalek sec his casing was disposed of as he was no longer the leader of the cult and was not worthy of the higher ranking dalek casing. But the theory that you make is a much more realistic point.

They should have featured Sec's casing in the Black Archive in the 50th instead of the Dalek Supreme. From what we've seen on screen, the red supreme Dalek only features in Series 4 and Series 9, both instances wouldnt have lead to UNIT procuring the head dome. However, it's not a stretch to say they would have procured Sec's casing, considering they also had a Mire helmet from 2000 years prior

Can you imagine if the disposed casing was discovered by Humans? Or maybe one of the earliest form of UNIT? That could be an interesting idea. The fact that a Dalek casing was what helped influence UNIT's development over the initial years.

I imagine that it was converted into the battle computer used to link Dalek Caan to the human hybrids.

It ended up on antiques roadshow.

Even if the casing couldn't be immediately used as functional travel machine, it was still too useful to be just dumped.

The case is actually found somewhere in the dalek asylum.

The modification idea makes sence, cause when we see in side it's almost completely gutted.

How would they even go about destroying it even if they wanted to? Advanced as the tech they’re able to come up with is, they’re still extraordinarily limited to what they can do in New York’s sewers and on their list of things to build, a recycling plant for old Dalek casings was likely nowhere near the top of that list. Like the shells of Thay and Jast and the hundreds of Dalek weapons armed on the Dalek-Human hybrids throughout the sewer system of New York, it was just something that wasn’t considered by the writers and was forgotten about. I don’t think you can say it’s a plot hole since it doesn’t really effect anything story wise but it’s certainly something of a continuity error that so much incredibly advanced, incredibly dangerous Dalek technology is pretty much just left lying all about the place one circuit of which could change all of human history radically and permanently.

RTD should follow up on this for Series 14... oh I mean Season 1 of New NuWho!

hey, i was wondering if you would do a short video review of the daleks in colour. Im sure we would all love to hear what you think of the edits, new soundtrack and new voicelines.

My, not so very thought out, theory was the case abandoned. It was just pushed aside when Dalek Caan took place as the controller. Though I did question my own theory such as, would The Doctor leave such technology behind out in the open. So my extra theory was that he hid it or buried it only for it to be recovered by the Daleks and given to another a new mutant where it can been seen next to the Supreme Dalek back on Skaro in the control room hence why it had Dalek Sec's ID symbol. Of course, this was just a quick and not so thought out theory. I used to wonder why Dalek Caan or Thay didn't take the casing for themselves but I presumed filming wise, they didn't want to confuse the younger audience by having Dalek Sec's casing re-used in the same episode. I do find it a shame that the original Dalek Sec casing prop, which was the original 2005 prop, was repainted back to bronze but I understand why. I am also aware that the new Dalek Sec casing we see in The Asylum of the Daleks and The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar was hired from outside the BBC who just wanted as many casings as they could find. We didn't see much of the casing in the asylum and the ID was barely visible as far as I believe so story wise, I pretended that's just another casing made from the same material as Dalek Sec's. Though when it was clearly shown in the Dalek control room with Dalek Sec's ID, that's when my rough theory came in. It's the same casing but different mutant inside. Again, it's just a silly theory of mine.

Repurposing the casing would be smart but, yes, if it had to be converted into a birthing pod, I can see who the whole thing would be rendered useless.

Perhaps the Dalek Grim Reaper (it actually exists) comes and does a tidy up?

I think they lacked the resources to appropriate its raw materials, but it could certainly serve as a good plot device down the track

Well I think it was reused, because in the witches familiar you can see a darlek with the same casing as darlek sec did.but that's just a theory.

I think the other cult of skaro daleks destroyed the casing because they saw sec as a traitor to the dalek cause and any dalek using his casing would remind them of their failed leader

It's a shame they just got rid of it because it looks cool. But the Daleks have no concept of elegance.

I think Caan would have taken Secs casing when he took control. I think if the casing worked Caan would have taken that and give Thay his.

In a fanfiction I'm still in the process of writing, the casing of Dalek Sec, along with the dead casings of Thay and Jast are captured by Hydra scientists, and my team of Shield agents are sent to recover them as they were the 0-8-4's that were detected. Ultimately Dalek Sec's casing is reborn as a robotic shell and used as a guard and may also be used to contain me, when my fire abilities go out of control during another mission.
