Bonne Bell's Lip Smacker lip glosses were once almost sacred to teens and preteens, a kind of right of passage as young adults began experimenting with make-up. Inexpensive and available in countless flavors, Lip Smackers were a coveted commodity on school playgrounds and at birthday parties and sleepovers. But after what seemed like 40 successful years on the market, the maker of Lip Smackers announced it would be closing its factory doors and selling the brand. So, what exactly happened to Lip Smackers?

I love this video!! I lived 20 mins from the Bonne bell headquarters as a child and my aunt worked there as printer and advertiser! Because of that I have 1 of the largest and rarest collections to date!

I love lipsmackers 🎀 I still make sure to pick one up when I'm in a target 🤩 it's fun to pick out a daily lip balm

As a child of the 70's, I grew up with Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. Back then, we had two sizes: Regular and barrel sizes. I had both, not to mention a host of flavors like Sour Grapes, Bubblegum, Peppermint, Good and Plenty, 7-Up, Strawberry, Watermelon, Chocolate Mint, Orange Crush, Dr Pepper and possibly more. I had other Bonne Bell products, like 10:06 lotion ( which I really didn't like much because it strongly was fragranced) and Skin Musk. When I heard that they were closing their doors in 2015, I wanted to cry because my generation, not to mention others, grew up with that company and the iconic Lip Smackers. When Markwins bought it and saved Lip Smackers from extinction, it was great but I could tell that it changed.

I remember going to the mall in the 90s with friends and spending a long time in the drug stores, picking out the best flavours. The glittery ones were my favourites. In the mid-2000s, I got a honeydew flavoured Lip Smacker. I recently found it in the back of a drawer and was sad to have to throw it out. The flavour and smell were long gone.

Are these type of palms or glosses with flavor still sold? I know Victoria secret has flavored glosses but I dont know any other brand that sells those type.
