I heard that when Sekiro was in development it was originally supposed to be a Tenchu title but as it progressed they found themselves with something that deviated a little from what Tenchu was, thus Sekiro was born. I hope we get a new Tenchu game soon. It’s been so long haha.

Fatal shadows (Kurenai) was awesome. Much more difficult than previous titles and much harder to plan attacks. More cerebral, hence why more enjoyable for me. I would've preferred at least 1 male character in the game, because I never really liked playing as Ayame in the previous games, but overall this title delivered. To get grandmaster ranking in Fatal shadows you really had to be patient. This is probably why not as many people rated it.

I LOVED Tenchu growing up. The theme song for the 2nd game is TIMELESS and the best thing ever created by man

Bro im so happy i came up with this vid... It has a special place in my heart. I remember seeing the boxart in the shop and insisted my big brother to convince my mother in order to buy it for christmas. I didnt know anything about it, as kids, we could only make decissions via boxarts and magazines. After insisting too much, my parents brought it for Christmas... Unboxing that psone game, and seeing Rikimaru's eye at first sight, was the greatest present i will always remember... Also my brother loved it so i stayed behind him while he played it cause it was very difficult for me, but i was glad my brother and I shared the best crhistmas whenever Tenchu arrived

Solid retrospective - I was working at Acquire in 2009, right after Shadow Assassins, and I'm sad to say I have my doubts we'll see another Tenchu. I haven't been with them for nearly a decade, so none of this is insider information - I'd love to be wrong about it - but I don't think From has any incentive to revive the series, especially now that they've made their stand in the ninja stealth action genre with Sekiro. After the original Tenchu, ownership of the IP passed from Sony Music Entertainment to Activision to fund and publish the sequel, developed by the original creators, Acquire. Afterward it passed on to From Software, who as far as I'm aware still hold the IP rights. After they got their hands on the IP, From sort of burned it to the ground with the (and I'm biased as a former Acquire employee, so take what I say as just one man's ever-so-slightly salty opinion) sub-par K2 games. With the waning popularity of the series, and From's unexpected breakout success with the Souls titles, I think the closest we're going to see to any more Tenchu will be other games in the Sekiro series - which is effectively a hybrid of Tenchu and the Souls games. It seems unlikely to me that From would sell the IP back to Acquire (As much as I wish they would) either, since any new Tenchu would be a direct competitor to any future Sekiro games they may wish to create and release.

Tenchu Z has some of the best stealth mechanics we've ever seen in gaming history with a couple small bugs... I was very excited when I heard about sekiro because it was obviously the next Tenchu but terribly disappointed it went down the fantasy rabbit hole With the vacancy left in our stealth games these days another Tenchu would dominate Funny to see Ghost of tsushima beat them to the punch! The one big mistake these games make is forgetting the grappling A large proportion of Blade combat ended up with a takedown/ slam and a speedy killshot They keep forgetting about the throw/ kill combo... even old school movies depicted this classic strategy well! Come on guys, don't forget the grapples!!

The best ninja/samurai game ever made. It preceded its age in several aspects. My favourite was 2nd but I even liked Fatal even if it was far from the Triology but after that all games were rubbish unfortunately... -Syphon Filter* was also a huge franchise.

My dude I thought I was like the last one on the planet that remember Tenchu thank you for being out there I was a young teenager when this game came out and it blew my mind like came to the blood the stealth kills it's forever with me and I'm 35 now married and my wife checks on my old school games and place them to especially tennis shoe on PS1 I have a PS2 and one that work perfectly fine so thank you again for shouting this game out why these new kids ainu people 2000 people up when I call them no nothing sekiro is alright still not Tenchu

I LOVE Tenchu and I actually liked Fatal Shadows a lot. Gameplay was similar to Tenchu 3 which was amazing, and Rin's storyline was lovely. Some stages were kinda short and that's the only thing I disliked about it. What really destroyed the sagas was the crappy, disgusting and vomitive Tenchu 4. The way to go should've been a Tenchu Z like playability with a REAL storyline. Tenchu for NDS also sucked AF but at least it wasn't like a canon game. BTW Tenchu shall have never left Sony consoles. So PS3 and Vita shall have been the way to go and not Nintendo or Microsoft.

For those familiar with the nature of the Azuma Clan, there is no way to truly know their ultimate fate. This sanguine shroud of silence and shadow could mean that they're extinct... It could just as easily mean they merely await the opportune moment to strike once again.

If you get series fatigue maybe you never liked the game in the first place, maybe it just impressed you with the first game but you never actually got into the mechanics or got grandmaster ranks. Unrelated but people write off GBA and DS castlevanias as being samey after playing a few and I couldnt not disagree more, each one has massively different mechanics to the last one every single time, some do it better and some change a lot but each is great. If you arent so detail focused or dont enjoy seeing mechanical and level design evolution then it might appear to be the same game again. But to those who enjoy nuances rather than genre changes,really appreciate a sequel that keeps things traditional

There's really no way a man can f up a Tenchu Stealth Assassin video game.

I played the first 2 plus Tenchu Z. Just waiting in the shadows along with that soundtrack. Still got the Tenchu Z disc and Xbox one X won't recognise it

You should try Shinobido Way of the Ninja, in my opinion it's even better choice than Tenchu, you have more freedom in your actions, the gameplay it's more unique and addictive, you really feel like a true ninja ☯️

As much as I'd love to see Rikimaru and Ayame again, I honestly doubt it will ever happen. As beloved as Tenchu is, it doesn't seem to have that big groundswell of interest it would need to make a convincing case for development of a new game. I think this is also the same reason why none of the old Tenchu games have been ported to Steam.

I literally think that a new Tenchu game is in the works as we speak and I strongly believe that before 2025 we are gonna get it. I mean as you mentioned in the video, they saw how successful Sekiro and Ghost Of Tsushima have become so I'm almost certain that gives them enough confidence to consider reviving Tenchu. Fingers crossed, I hope we finally get it.

I think the best way to reboot the game is just to ignore the franchise except the first three installments. I mean they should just ignore the story of tenchu fatal shadows, shadow assassins and should make a new tenche game that is sequal to tenchu wrath of heaven. For instance, let's look one of the best movie franchises - terminator. The first 2 terminator movies were great, but terminator rise of machines, salvation that are sequal to terminator judgment day didn't succeed. Terminator genysis, that meant to reboot the franchise, was disappointment. And what have they done? They have made a new sequal to terminator judgment day just ignoring other series - Terminator dark fate. That is a great idea and succeed.

To fix the Tenchu series FromSoftware need to remake all 3 Tenchu games n continue from Wrath of Heaven with new story ignoring all other messed up Tenchu games...

I love Tenchu, But Ghost of Tsushima is closer to being "the most realistic Ninja game". Since Tenchu more embraces the fictionalised/romanticised side of the historical Shinobi, as these almost mythical black clad assassins in the shadows with supernatural abilities. Gameplay wise, The Hitman games are probably the closest thing to a "true" Shinobi game. Though obviously the theme and setting isn't.

Please tell me you've played shinobido. I was made by the original people who did the first two Tenchu's. It only released in EU and Japan. I played the 2nd one (came out on Vita) and you can definitely tell it was made by people who did Tenchu

In my opinion Shinobido Way of the Ninja it's a much better choice than Tenchu, in Shinobido you have more freedom in your actions of the story, the gameplay it's more unique and addictive, basically you really feel like a true ninja from every aspect... ☯️

The Spike/acquire sold the TENCHU copyright to FromSoftware, and continuous working ninja game at SHINOBIDO series. The FromSoftware tried continues TENCHU series but have not been successful!

They should just remaster the original one to 2020

The first game has aged horribly. I picked it up and played it today. It's unplayable.

But I have to disagree with you Tenchu 2 was absolute dumpster fire
