Some 2001 NBA Draft picks would go on to have great careers, while others are either too injury prone or just plain stink and are forced to retire early. Today we go over what exactly happened to the top 10 picks from the 2001 NBA Draft. We cover how their basketball careers went along with where they are today.

From Kwame's perspective, imagine coming straight out of high school to play with the pros, that's already a lot of pressure. Now add the fact that your childhood hero Michael Jordan is verbally roasting your butt in practice and in games. I don't care how confident you are, that would would kill anyone's confidence in a snap. Which then sucks more because later on it made him look soft in Kobe's eyes and we all know he didn't tolerate that.

Even after all these years Kwame doesn't seem to have any animosity towards Jordan despite what he went through with him in his Wizard years. Still considers him as the Goat and I respect that. What Jordan did was inexcusable though.

I was the defendant in a trial. When I took the stand and the plaintiffs lawyer was questioning me i wasn’t doing very well. At lunch my lawyer tore me a new asshole. After lunch when I took the stand again I did much better my lawyer said I did great. I ended up winning my end of the lawsuit. To this day it hurt what my lawyer said to me but I don’t care because we won and that’s all that matters.

The whole Curry bust thing is cruel too. No one ever mentions that his first child got murdered in chicago in the offseason between his breakout season with the knicks and the season he came out of shape and "ruined" his career. There is one thing about Curry that no one ever seems to mention when talking about his downfall, and it was pretty big. Eddy Curry had another child before the six he has now. His child and the woman he was going through the divorce process, i think, got murdered in the offseason between his breakout year with the knicks and when he came super out of shape. Naturally, it took him some time to move on. I dont know why this doesnt get any attention at all, he just usually gets shitted on. Not saying you did, just overall. Aye bruh…IDGAD IF ITS JESUS MF CHRIST…. Ain’t no mf talking to me like that without repercussions… it could be Jordan,Kobe, Lebron, KD, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, or Larry fucking Bird im swinging on whoever talkin to me lih dat…. Idc who disagrees. I blame Kwame Browns Bust of a career on MJ. He completely eviscerated that “kids”confidence. Clearly it had a huge impact on his confidence, which in turn led to his disappointing career. Jordan and Old Mfs like him only know 1 method to comforting, encouraging, and motivating people, whether it’s friends, family, Teammates, strangers, acquaintances, and lovers…. It’s called tough love. 😂😂. If MJ and Kobe would’ve been more sensible and more empathetic with Kwame, they would’ve saw and learned he did t respond well to that method of encouraging. Should’ve taken the soft approach. MJ and Kobe were kind of dickheads for treating bro like that.

Good job overall. Some pronunciation errors: Alexis Ajinca (Ah-Jeh-saw) - I don't know why the n is silent. Eduardo Najera - I've heard NA-HAIR-uh and Na-HER-uh. The first is, I believe, the correct pronunciation. However, I'm not a native Spanish speaker and Najera comes from Arabic, so all bets are off.

@@SweatbandSports, these names are hard, especially when you consider that the names sometimes are one language's interpretation of another's... or, in the case of Chinese to English, never transliterated phonetically (e.g., Chinese star Wang Zhi-Zhi, the first ever player from PRC to come to the US, is pronounced more like Wong Shoe Shoe). This shouldn't take away from the great level of detail you went in tracing these players careers. Having lived through this era and watched these drafts as they occurred, this was a great refresher and added to my nostalgia. I'm going to look at what you said about the 2006 draft next. That was an incredible draft for misguided expectations. I don't think anybody expected it to be a 1984 or 2003 draft, but I believe most pundits didn't think it would be as bad as it was.

Kwame isn't the even the biggest bust of this draft. Eddy Curry is. His rebounds per game as a center in this era is terrible, really awful defensively too. He was a bust for the Bulls. He signed a huge contract with the Knicks and ate his way out of the league - He busted for them too, It was so bad his contract was a major part of why the Knicks were so bad for almost a decade. Kwame was just a backup big after his rookie contract. He wasn't given a franchise player level contract like Curry that he failed on. He didn't cripple two teams

By the sound of this, it sounds like you have no idea what happened to Eddy Curry. I am from Chicago, and agree with the rebounding thing and his defense. He was a bust for us. He did start to show that promise on the offensive side in this first season with the Knicks. Going back to my first sentence, that offseason changed his life, and this got no attention even to this day outside of chicago. But Curry had a previous child to the 6 that he mentioned in this video. And that child got murdered, along with the woman who he was currently going through a divorce with, in chicago in that offseason. That is why "he ate himself" out of the league. He was going through some serious shit at such a young age. If anything, Curry's story is much sadder than Kwame's, yet everyone just shits on the guy without even knowing the full story. And yes diop was so much worse.
