It’s been 24 years since 9-year-old Erica Baker’s disappearance.
Erica went missing on February 7, 1999 after she left her home in Kettering to walk her dog.
“KPD has not stopped looking for Erica over the last 24 years and will continue to look and follow tips and new information until she is found. KPD detectives have built a great working relationship with EquuSearch Midwest who also continue to look for Erica,” a spokesperson for the Kettering Police Department said.
Christian Gabriel served six years in prison after he confessed to driving a van that struck Baker near the intersection of Glengarry Drive and Powhattan in Kettering.
Both he and his passenger, Jan Franks, had criminal backgrounds so instead of calling for help, Gabriel said he put Erica inside the van and took off.
He still refuses to say what he did with Erica, leaving unanswered questions for investigators and family.
Kettering police ask that if anyone has any information regarding Erica to contact KPD Detective Woolf at 937-296-2598 or 1-800-THE-LOST.

I remember this case as it unfolded. It was so sad. I have a daughter that was 10, at the time of Erica's plight. We showed dogs across the United States, including Ohio. I was always fearful traveling across the country with my young daughter, that something would happen to her. Erica was blocks from her own home and disappeared into thin air! It's tragic. I commend her Dad for being so open with you Scott, for his daughters sake. I hope this jars a memory, for someone who can help bring Erica home! She deserves this!!!!

I was adopted as a baby. I did my DNA through Ancestry and my older biological brother that I didn't know of found me. I was so blessed to be reunited with him and my sisters. I wonder if Erica's family are in the DNA databases. One never knows she might be able to found if she's alive.

My heart aches for her father. I started crying when the music started playing around the part where you were at the cemetery and seeing her dad stand there by her grave, that REALLY hit me 😢 I pray the lord Erica Baker is found and returned home! Her grave stone is very beautiful. I can’t ever imagine what he’s going through. My heart hurts for him. Much love is sent to her dad and the family ❤️

I lost my 19 year old son oct. 29th 2019. It was in a car accident. I cannot imagine this dads pain. The pain of losing a child is horrible enough. You NEVER get over it, NEVER, but to not have that closure??! I feel this mans pain, I really do. I hope the family gets their daughters physical body back, hopefully alive, but either way, so they can have a peace they deserve and need. To not know is just devastating. I can totally understand the need to keep hope alive. To lose a child, well I can tell you there is NO pain greater! To see my son in a casket was..... I just cant there are no words... but at least I had answers.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you are beginning the journey to healing. I'll tell you honestly the pain will one day turn to great joy every time you think of your beloved son. His essence and memory is all around you and one day you'll derive great joy from those two things. It took me many years to realize this! As a Mom, I truly understand. My husband and I lost our first child, a daughter at 3 days old to under developed lungs in 1983, and our third born, a son in 2021 to an accidental drug overdose, he was only 30. My husband and I were devastated on both occasions, for very different reasons. Our sons passing is still very raw for our whole family. We had 7 kids altogether. With our sons passing we seem to get together as much as possible now days. Although we are scattered between three states and many miles, we make an extra effort to be together. It doesn't even have to be for a special occasion anymore, we do it just because we can. In some odd way I think it was our sons gift to the whole family. To just be together, don't hesitate!

I'm so sorry. Losing a child is UNNATURAL. My sister lost her son, Shane, on 3-9-99. Seeing her, watching him in his casket,was too much. I was 4 months pregnant and I had to ID him in the casket. While My Mother and Daddy were curled up in a knot. It was the most devastating loss.

There’s no statute of limitations on any homicide or murder. I am a criminal justice major with a master’s degree in the field! I’m so sorry for this poor man!!! I sure hope and pray he finds his beautiful little daughter and she’s safe! Thank you Scott for helping him!

Being a single father I think about it happening to my son all the time. Though there’s really nothing I can do to stop it from happening, that’s the part that keeps me up at night sometimes. My heart is broken for Erica’s family & those all over the world who has & is experiencing this. 💔💔💔

Scott I lived at a Apartment complex called StoneBridge Apartments which is like a mile from the Kettering Rec center. I remember when they were searching for her in the woods which is a Mall now called the Green which was right in back of my Apartment complex. I didn’t know what was going on until I saw it on the news a few hours later. This is so heart Breaking I feel for the father and the Family. God love her. I live about 10 mins from where you were filming this. You always do a great job. I truly wish this family could find closure and find Erica. I truly wish this for her and Her family. 💕Thanks for bringing this to light when most have forgotten. 😇

I remember seeing this case. I think it might have been on Dateline or Unsolved Mysteries. But I definately remember this story. The guys in the van kept putting the other under the bus as the driver, and neither of them could lead the cops to the site where they supposedly buried the little girl's body. What a shame for that girl and her family. Just goes to show you that a routine walk isn't just routine, anything can happen at anytime. My prayers go out to the family of the little girl.

Absolute nightmare, this poor man. Well done Scott very deferentially handled. Someone out there knows the truth, who knows what that piece of shit told people in prison about it or since he's come out. Some people are just made that way, lacking in basic empathy. I only live 10 minutes from there and i remember when this happened very sad! Scott, what a great video, even though so very sad. I feel so sorry for Mr. Baker going through this all these years with no closure. I hope this will help in some way to bring information to the investigation. I could see Scott how much you were feeling this poor man's pain. God Bless you all and prayers for the Baker family. 🙏🏽💗

Really well done video, Scott. In a way, it's a blessing that people such as Greg Baker can reach out to you to help cast a wider net towards potentially providing them with closure. I truly cannot imagine what he has been going through for over two decades now. Erika was only 6 months older than me, so we would be the same age right now. I have heard of this case before Scott you did a excellent job my heart goes out to Mr Baker and Erica's family I hope that one day someone finds her so they can finally bring her home to rest I can't imagine what they are going through it is the not knowing what happened to poor Erica ..R.I.P.. I was working at the senior center at Kettering Rec when she disappeared. We became the temporary headquarters for the investigation immediately following. I’ll never forget it. Meeting the parents, being involved in that tense and tumultuous situation. It was awful. The hopelessness as the days went on was palpable. Thank you for revisiting. My friend sent me this video as I was just telling her about it. I had seen that there has never been any closure for this family. It’s so heartbreaking.

I am watching this on the 25th anniversary of Erica going missing. I was part of the hundreds of people searching all over Ohio for Ketterings lost little girl. My daughter was good friends with Erica. They were in Miss Green's 2nd grade class together. I have met both Greg and Misty, sat with and spoken to Misty many times. I have kept the Baker family in my prayers for 25 years. I also believe what Detective Woolf said, that Erica will be found. Hopefully soon, this wonderful family needs to bring their baby girl home. 😢

It is a very interesting video. I sometimes worry about my youngest nephew because he is always going off by himself. He claims that he can fight them but he doesn't realize that a grown man is much stronger. I myself don't know how I even survived because I would do the same thing when I was a kid and thinking back at what could have happened really bothers me. I suffer from severe anxiety to this day about what could have been and how would it effect my parents. Thinking about it as I am writing I feel a anxiety attack coming. I really hope that they solve this case so the family can be at peace. Great job on this video Scott and I hope you do more like this so these cases can be opened up and solved.

I know why this man picked Scott to do this video. Because he sees the compassion and respect he has for the dearly departed 🙏 I wonder has the family ever tried to get a psychic medium to maybe somehow try to piece together where Erica's body might possibly be?
