In the core of the Ancient Forest of Fangorn, Treebeard stood tall and steadfast with his eyes glowing with intense determination. Treebeard was one of the oldest of the Ents still living in Middle-earth, an ancient tree-like being known as a "shepherd of trees". He stood exceedingly tall and stiff-limbed, with bark-like skin and green hair.
But where does Treebeard’s story begin from?

In the book Sam, in a pub, talks about how Halfast claims to have seen a tree moving in the forest near the Shire. Maybe an Entwive?

I've often wondered about that. The Old Forest, the old trees there are at least half awake. Malevolent, maybe, but more awake than regular trees. So maybe either Ents, of Entwives. Maybe.

ted sandyman has a go at sam, just being a general meathead you could hear today in a pub, something along the lines of 'well if there aint no elms on hte north downs then he can't have seen one' its gets a laugh, like he scored a point, very telling on human, especially your average close minded english established gentleman. Bear in mind the Sandymans collaborated with Sharki.

@@mordechai-yeah, same. And the Old Forest also has Tom Bombadil. Maybe he could've been asked to keep an eye out for the entwives in the fourth age. And it would've been even better if Tom and Treebeard had gotten together to search. But maybe that's another story Tolkien had in the pipeline that he never got round to doing.

The video suggests that Treebeard might be older than Gandalf. This does not seem plausible. Gandalf - being of Ainur, a Maiar spirit, existed before the creation of middle-earth - and therefore is likely much, much older than Treebeard. Gandalf's mortal body, was not as old as Treebeard, being taken during the third-age. But his spirit was from time immemorial.

I think that the Ents are a lesser mia. Therefore thier fates are akin to The mia of Yavanna.

Treebeard is 100% older than Gandalf. However, you would be correct in that Treebeard is not older than Olorin. Galadriel and Cirdan may be the only two older than Treebeard

Given that Treebeard belongs to the first ents, he will be conceived by Yavanna at the same time as Aule conceived the first dwarfs, so before the awakening of the elves. And since Galadriel is a grand daughter of Finwe, she came after the awakening and so is younger then treebeard. I do miss the participation of elves in three battles. These should be aďdressed.

Considering Gandalf was of the same lifeform as Sauron and was in existence at the beginning of the world you’re correct

@@mikalcobbs9402 Treebeard was older than Gandalf, but not Olorin. Gandalf is his mortal form therefore Treebeard is older than his mortal form. There isn't a logical fallacy here.

He wasn't and he was. AFTER the dwarfs were discovered, Yavana asked Manwe for forest guardians 2:30. That means that the SPIRIT that would become Gandolf already existed. Gandalf the Grey came after the ents.

Gandalf himself said treebeard was older. I recommend you reference the reunion of Gandalf the white, Aragorn, gimli and legloas in fangorn forest. Gandalf reveals a lot in that reunion. He says treebeard is perhaps the oldest living thing in middle earth.
