@@sailingfishcake It was a lot more impressive than just getting 'some' stuff right + luck! Not sure Finn Möller expected you guys to be cruising leisurely across the Atlantic in his Alo 96 nearly 40 years later! I think he probably imagined that everyone would turn East into the Med rather than West across the Atlantic for 3000 miles when he originally designed them! Although I did read somewhere that it narrowly qualifies for Ocean racing because it has such a good CSF (Capsize Screening Formula) rating of 1.95. Fishcake definitely impressed me... outstanding yacht! You guys should be proud of yourselves too of course... even more outstanding achievement! Crack on and much luck with your intrepid channel! Enjoy paradise too! That gargantuan Pacific Ocean appears well within your sights now! Hoohar! Crack on!

Hi guys nice trip. Looks like you are really love it. Just a thought...... We always rig/fix the spiboom with 3 lines , the genoa sheet runs THROUGH the pole eye. Then its possible to reef /unreef the genoa instantly if needed. The boom stays in place. Looks like the boat can handle a lot more power up front. Better for speed and. motion Safe seas. Enjoy Greetz Frankie
@sailingfishcake
@sailingfishcake Жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks! We actually did run the Genoa sheet through the eye in the beginning but it always creeped backwards and got close to breaking. We found this way works better, at least here. I never really took any sailing lessons or sailed with other people yet (which probably shows) so I still have tons to learn. It would definitely handle more. But im very happy we didn’t push the rig too much in the Atlantic because (spoiler alert) we ripped the lower port stay the other day… 😐 Thanks for the advice! 🙌
