What happens if you swap a faulty ABS control unit on mini R50 R52 2001 2002 2003 for a used one

In this video I have this Mini Cooper R50 which is suffering from some issues and one of those is that the abs unit has an internal fault, I have decided to swap the unit for a second hand one and see if it needs programing so have a look at the video and find out.
Fault code of the unit is 5DF5 Internal fault

Hi guys, I have changed the modulator on my Mini, the part nr it was diferent and it was all good without even clearing the fault code. Thanks🎉

I know this is a old video I have just brought a September 2001 mini with same lights on I haven't scanned it yet but I'm guessing it is module fault it has been off road 10 year plus so has other issues but is worth saving very informative

@@DaringBeefcake thank you I have same fault code so is that unit I am refubing the rear end new bushes rear brakes springs etc so will get that sorted then onto abs module thanks again

This is very interesting as I have exact same error code and warning lights (except tyre monitor) AND have a matching module on its way from eBay. Definitely going to try this method of replacing the controller only. Did you have to use software to bleed?

Perfect I hope u get it sorted. I didn’t use software for bleeding, just the old fashion way seemed just fine..

@@arsetent I did bleed all 4 as the fluid was dirty anyway, however having open that line if could have created air bubbles within so I would bleed all 4. better be safe than sorry :)

@@DaringBeefcake hi, I got it sorted in the end. Unfortunately the first part I got (with matching numbers) was a duff. I then bought a 2nd part with non matching numbers on the controller because I was assured it was compatible and superceded the original. Thankfully, that one worked straight away.

I swapped one in still same error that i cant erase 5df5 and lights wont go out on dash could i have a second broken module ?

It’s very possible it happened to me with 3 different modules I bought for different things including the bc1 module. I bought from eBay and returned them. So it happens.
