Great video that 18% grade on ice will for sure keep you on the edge of your seat I’ve lost traction before going up a mountain and started sliding backwards got lucky and got traction and stopped and was able to chain up but the whole time was thinking it’s going off the side of the mountain definitely gives you the old pucker factor on the seat

Mark Wolf *Exactly*. You can FIND room for a jug of def in the truck. I drove my F450 all over the southwest pulling our 18,000 lb RV. The truck was packed with everything you can imagine, PLUS 2 2.5 GALLON JUGS OF DEF. There were times I was deeply concerned about running out of fuel, but never def.

Do not know why anyone with a diesel doesn't carry at least a two and a half jug. Doesn't take up that much room. That will get you to more Dec or to your destination. I have a 19 Denali, pulling a 40' fifth wheel and I carry seven and a half gallons. Not only for me, but for someone who may need some.

bro just disconect the battery and reconnect it after 5-20 min. (depending on the car discharge rate) and you should get full throttle back for a bit before it idles it

I had a 2016 F350 crew cab dually 4x4 powerstroke and I got rid of it after 2 years with under 10k miles . Only used it once in a while to pull my travel trailer and same as you , had the cup holder , passenger side visor , drivers side mirror , 120 volt plug cover all break at different times with no using of any of the items that broke but all of them had that cheap plastic ! I live in Florida and the truck was kept in a A/C garage ! Now I have a Ram and have there problems ! Keep up the good videos and take care !

I try to keep 5 gallons of def for a just in case. 2.5 in the truck and 2.5 at my base. They sit for about a month before I use them and replace them

That's the exact route I took to Lab via motorcycle, looks like its got a lot more pavement now. I ended up carrying 60 liters of fuel on a motorcycle, though there were more fuel stops than I had figured, what a fun trip

If DEF freezes it will think it is still in the tank and it will just run like it was deleted

Well for a brief amount of time...but the computer knows the level before freezing. Also the def tank is heated as is the line, so it will melt the frozen def. No def=derate

Yes thats called a tuner, But you have to remove the dpf, which is illegal. Not only illegal but voids any warranty on the truck, and many dealerships will not touch a deleted And tuned truck. Perhaps its different in Canada but in the states the Epa has really cracked down on the custum tunes. Personally I don’t understand the big deal adding of def fluid. I drive a 2013 6.7 f550. It has 230k, 9k engine hours and have had zero dpf emissions issues. It gets about 8mpg idles a lot running the pto, and I still get 4-5k on a tank def

And once you open that container of def you either half to use it or throw it out. One of my machines operators used open def from the day or 2 before and it screwed up the whole def system from moisture

So how fast do you go through your DEF? In 10,000 miles I've used 12 gallons. But at least the Ram and Ford have a DEF gauge, the Chevy doesn't. All of a sudden it says you have 600 miles left.

It only takes 1 good time of sitting on the side of the road with no way to get help to learn 5 gallons of diesel and oil and 2 gallons of def and 2 complete sets of filters in the toolbox on my kw everything to change a tire belts and plenty of food/water supplies especially winter season it might not be you in the accident but its possible to sit for hours behind one getting cleaned up

@@connorvelthuis2221 I didn't even think about the lift pump, I thought it was gravity fed, with the DEF tank above the SCR. So, I guess it's pressure fed, which makes sense. It would help atomize the fluid into a fine mist entering the reducer.

Do you have to go back empty? Never had inclines like yours, I had to pull a loaded down horse trailer, most was 6 degrees for twelve miles, when I was moving from Florida to Western. NY with 1990 f-150 4.9L straight six 5spd. Wore out front brakes half-way there (threw on some more pads in NJ), no trailer brakes....back in 1994

I used to go to Daytona bike week with the same setup. 5 Harleys on an equipment trailer and six people in the truck. That 4.9 and 5 speed exceeded expectations. My trailer did have brakes on one axle though.

I run an old 12v Dodge so no DEF needed,,,,,, but was curious on alternatives. Someone mentioned on a site that DEF is Aqueous Ammonia. Some windshield washers contain ammonia.......less than needed for def but it said would get you by in a pinch - void warranty but pick your battles.... if they found out. Is this true?? I dont know.

Wouldn't it be nice if they still made a under-drive (gear splitter) for these type trucks?. I didn't hear you push your parking brake? Just using (park) to hold that weight can f up the trans (mainly the pressure against the park pin) as you try to pull it out of park...

I am no real truck driver, dont know a whole lot about the industry. But sometimes I drive for the company I work for, non CDL. They rent them Ryder Sprinter vans. Occasionally this exact thing happens, it seems like it goes into Limp mode for no reason. I think you just showed me what the heck was happening with the van haha. There was always 100 lights showing on the dash pretty much at all times in those pieces of crap so I didnt notice anything about DEF. All I had to do was turn the engine off and start it back up and id be able to go a few more miles, then turn it off and start it again and keep on goin.

At 20k lbs trailer i was able to go about 125 miles before fill up ...def lasts about 4k for 5 gallons never let it get past 1/2 tank on furl or def

My 2013 6.7 warns me at 500 miles and counts down also a warning at half full I’ve never had a problem since I got it in 2014 and I’m at 180,000 miles do all def vehicles not warn you ? Just curious
