Tbh these don't sound all that bad compared to bedside. If I had a dollar for every day I spent 12, 13, 14 hours without my ass touching a chair once, or for every shift that ran over by several hours because it was the only way to feel like I had left my patients in an acceptable condition; or for every 16 hour shift that was worked... and the stress... you say "unpredictable breaks, sometimes you have to stay late, and stress", I hear "breaks, sometimes you don't have to stay late, and (still) stress".

@@Beautybysabrinamy guess is either LPN or RN, b/c the CNA can take a break if they wanted to, that leaves either the CNA’s partner on the floor, or the nurses to hold it down until the CNA gets back from break, the RN depending on a floor’s culture usually has a break buddy , another RN, but if your buddy is busy & if you have a heavy assignment then it makes it hard. Which is why I’m leaning towards OP being an LIP

I am 45. ICU experience was about 15 months from 2006-2007. My goal was to become a CRNA at that time but life directed me differently over these years. Would I need to go back to the ICU for a while before attempting to apply? I do not have my CCRN. Also, I live in a very rural area. How much clinical time will likely require travel several hours away from my home to a larger city?
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy 13 күн бұрын
Hi there! Most programs want your ICU experience to be current-- some will accept experience that's within the last 1 -3 years or so, but with the competitive nature of programs we typically encourage nurses pursuing CRNA to be full-time (or at least PRN) in the ICU. As far as clinical cases while in school, those vary by program. Most CRNA schools will provide this information either on their website, in an open house or if you contact them. Furthermore, you can look into COA (the CRNA School accreditation agency) for details on what they require for minimum experience/hours in Clinicals. I encourage you to grab a Free copy of our 8 Steps to CRNA Planning Guide; it will help answer a lot of questions about becoming a CRNA in 2024 and beyond. Here's the link: www.cspaedu.com/8stepguide I hope this helps get you started. Cheering you on!!

@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy

I get tons of interaction with my patient in the OR- I enjoy the communication I get by interpreting and listening to their vital signs - we also collaborate with the surgical team the enter time - which is a lot of interaction 😂 - I may not get more than 5 minutes with my patients prior to surgery but in those 5 minutes I build a deep bond and trust - I help alleviate fears and anxiety- it is incredibly rewarding-
