WHAT I FEED MY HORSE | WINTER FEEDING ROUTINE FOR 3 HORSES | Equestrian Vlogmas
Here i go through what i feed my 3 welsh section D horses, who are all at various ages and stages in there ridden careers,
I have Donut a young 2 year old, Gambler who is a good doer and in light work and then i have Willlow who is in medium work but they are all fed the same feed
Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my KZfaq channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your riding journey quicker than I did on mine.

I compete my 4 Welsh section D cobs regularly in both in hand and ridden showing, from local level shows, affiliated, WPCS, RIHS, to HOYS qualifiers,
Willow - 11yr old Welsh section D - Sooty palomino
Gambler - 9yr old Welsh section D - Black roan
Champ - 7yr old Welsh section D - Buckskin
Donut - 2yr old Welsh section D - Chestnut roan
I am a completely self-taught horse rider who has a big dream to compete at HOYS, why not follow my journey to see if we can make it,
I'm not perfect and I make mistakes but what we learn from it is what truly matters.

I think making feeds up is one of my favourite jobs! Definitely think simple is better; I also think I've tried every feed brand under the sun and most of the big ones are just full of unnecessary crap! Mine just get Simple Systems Lucie nuts and simple balance which is nothing compared to all the different products and supplements the other horses at my yard get but they look fab on it. I definitely think its so easy to get sucked in to all the different feeds and supplements promising all sorts when it's not needed. Your boys look great so what you do is working! Xx

you have a lovely feed room! a could never dream of feeding any of that as my mare is a very good doer but keep doing what your doing as all your horses look very good. its more of a slim and win game for me! she only gets a little hi fi lite and fibre nuts and vits and mins plus equine america glucosamine as she is older and it is science backed and it has the recommended level of glucosamine per day ( 10 g)

I try and keep it simple. As barefoot. I feed a barefoot diet. Low sugar. Grazing is crap. I feed forage plus. Dengie healthy hooves chaff. And a small amount of linseed during the winter. Feet are amazing as is coat. What cool mix do you use. ? Do you wiegh your hay for Gambler? Welshies are such good dooers. Hard to keep them slim. 😂😂

The mix I use is TC feeds own brand, No I dont weigh gamblers have but he does only get a medium sized haynet as he hasn’t got an off switch 😂 he would eat a whole bale a night if I let him haha 🤣 xx

@@KarenBadrick1 exactly. Welshies have no off switch when it comes to eating.🤣🤣

my laminitic cob has a low sugar scoop of chaff with lami alert and a scoop of powder balancer but all the shine to his coat has gone - i might add a little bit of oil as he has lost the weight needed but since going on soaked hay and a basic feed his coat is looking really dry and brittle.

Yes add a little oil, it may take a little bit of time to see a shine in the coat but it will then be there when they shed there coat xx

Hi sue The cooked linseed is best! Keep doing that, Cooked linseed is whole, this linseed is crushed (called linseed meal) I usually cook linseed and oats each winter but due to my life being extremely hectic this year I haven’t done it, Keep cooking it as that way gets the best results xx
