I've been unable to walk for about 5 years due to chronic fatigue and though I've read quite a bit over the past year on this stuff the method and mindset weren't clicking until I found this channel. It's been 4 days of doing this and I've walked 12 steps today and feel fine. Thanks a lot for putting the info out there.

3:09 "believing that my pain was neuroplastic" That is the main problem for people like me with Trigeminal Nerve pain. There is not scan they can do to tell you if there is a physical cause. If a blood vessel is rubbing up against the nerve, they can only find that out by cutting open your skull when they are doing a procedure to adjust the position of the nerve.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I know with this condition it can be difficult to figure out what is neuroplastic or what portion of the pain could potentially be neuroplastic. You could check out my introduction to neuroplastic pain, where I go through the criteria in detail.

Dear Tanner, this is Dr. Mukherjee from Calcutta, India. I am a doctor -- a PCP with over three decades' experience (old enough to be your father, it seems). Suffering from CPPS/ 'chronic non-bacterial prostatitis' for eight minths now. Only recently discovered the concept of and research data on Mind-Body/TMS/Nociplastic pain. My question: what percentage of CPPS is attributable to MB pain, assuming you have done everything possible to rule out structural issues and have you seen patients recovering in a reasonably short time (say, months) using this approach wholeheartedly?
@painpsychotherapy
@painpsychotherapy 10 ай бұрын
Good questions! Difficult ones to answer though. I am not aware of what percentage of CPPS would be mind-body in nature. In terms of length of time for healing this can vary greatly depending on a persons situation. It could be weeks or well over a year. I found for myself trying not to set a deadline for healing was helpful (I acknowledge this can be really hard to do).

What do you mean by “drop in to your body”? I feel like I pay too much attention to my body, to every little feeling. Would paying more attention be counter productive?
@painpsychotherapy
@painpsychotherapy 10 ай бұрын
Dropping into the body means learning to sit with the sensations in our body and not be so much in our head thinking. How we focus matters though, as too intense focus on sensations often comes out of fear and we want to learn to attend with lightness and curiosity. Of course I cannot say what is best for your case over social media.

hi, how do u cope with action specific pain, like when I writing I get pain in my wrist, and I don't know it is from my posture or anythn, how can I convince my brain, it is neuroplastic? but sometimes I don't get this pain, like in school, everyone sits in same way, so if I have why others don't have, so I can tell it is neuroplastic, and it doesn't occur

Such valuable info, thank you. Your videos really help. I do have a question: all the literature I've read ('The Way Out' is life-changing!) and therapists I've seen have talked about this idea of connecting with your body; going into your body. How?! I'm not sure I'm getting it - I've done somatic tracking and emotional tracking and all sorts for over a year now, but I never really feel I'm in my body. I've asked therapists how to do this, but never got a clear answer. Any tips?
@nicoleurdang4909

I’m a holistic psychotherapist and also have TMS. One thing that usually helps me is a practice called pendulation. First, you do a little somatic tracking with the area that is giving you an unpleasant sensation. Breathe into it, explore it, name what you notice. Then find an area on the opposite side of your body that feels neutral and breathe into that. Focus on that area, noticing and naming what you feel. Go back and forth spending a little time on each area and watch what happens.

I also want to add that gentle yoga, and qigong can be incredibly helpful. There’s a wonderful qigong teacher on KZfaq, Jeff Chand. Unlike yoga, you don’t need any special training to do it. With yoga, you want a really good teacher because misalignment can create injury, the last thing you need right now. Qigong is gentle, fluid, calming…like a little miracle for your body, mind, and spirit.
