"Allow myself" touches on one of the things I had to work on in therapy; I spent a lot of time on "should". I should feel a certain way, I should be doing certain things. I had to allow myself to feel and think things without guilt. It's funny how people that try to be supportive and help impact this negatively too. I've had to tell people that say things like "Aw, don't think that" that yeah I'm going to think that and deal with it. Glad you're here with us!

Yeah man its Ben quite the journey of not letting other people views/thoughts cloud yours. I'm working on my best friend to continue therapy. We had similar upbringing. Definitely grateful for my progress thus far.

I really appreciate this video. I've been considering therapy. These last 2 years have been rough. Lost my brother last year and my aunt. This year I lost one of my best friends and my dad. There are times when I feel anxiety about it. Which does impede the work I have to do to reach these goals I set for myself before my retirement.

That's a lot to handle in such a short period of time. That kind of trauma can separate you from who you are. I'm glad my wife saw that and signed me up. I definitely was sinking. By all means I suggest you go. Carrying all that weight around is too much. Once its lifted then your goals will easily be accomplished.

Thanks for this. I had an extremely abusive father and I was only able to stay in touch with my emotions through my mother, so I’ve often felt detached from the manhood ideal that seems to be prevalent. Seeing a man go into detail about their trauma and emotions and encourage therapy is awesome to see. Sometimes you would talk about specific trauma and my immediate reaction is “oh that seems a little too detailed,” but I think that’s the toxic masculinity speaking and we really should be doing this. I’ve watched your videos since your rogue galaxy review and I love this channel. Hope you’re doing well

Thanks! Yeah it really helped years ago doing the video "How Video Games Saved my life. " That allowed me to open up a lot more. My childhood definitely played a role into who I am but didn't let it define me. Personally therapy and anger management helped. I had to come to peace with a lot of things. Glad you enjoyed me spillin" my guts.

I really appreciate this video, I need to try therapy. I'm 35 and just now realizing how much I was deprived, mentally and narcissistically abused growing up.
