5 Things I LOVE about Llamitas Spanish Level 2 1. Advanced Vocabulary - It's hard to find resources that fit the "sweet spot" for an early elementary-aged child who understands Spanish well, but isn't a fluent speaker. If your child understands Spanish, puts sentences together, and is beyond the basics, but ISN'T fluent, this is an excellent tool to go deeper and begin expanding on the foundation of the vocabulary they already have. 2. Flashcards - Flashcards are a powerful learning tool for language, and I especially love that these flashcards include example sentences for each word. They are a great starting point, helping you challenge your child: What else could you say using this vocabulary word? 3. Folktales - A beautiful bilingual anthology of folktales is included, but you aren't left wondering what to do with it. The lessons tells you when to read each tale, and give a variety of comprehension assignments based on the tales. You read each tale 4 times, with the repetition allowing your child to really master the content. I love that this guides me to do the same sorts of comprehension and narration work we would be doing when reading tales in English. This helps give me support to lead the these sorts of activities in a language I don't speak confidently. 4. Songs - Songs are included throughout the curriculum. One of my favorite aspects of these recordings is that they are a capella. As a Spanish learner, I struggled to hear song lyrics clearly over the sound of instruments. I love these clear recordings using only vocals. 5. Fun - You should have heard my son's shout of joy when I announced we were going to begin this new level. The science and social studies themes of Llamitas as well as the fun worksheets, make it so engaging and motivating. Fun really matters when building up skill in a second language. . This is an awesome curriculum, but Llamitas Level 2 is definitely for kids who already know quite a bit of Spanish, not for beginners. I don't know what level you're looking for, but it's worth checking out Homeschool Languages -- it's for beginner Spanish learners and is very game-based, reminds me quite a bit of all the active language-learning games I used to use when I was teaching ESL in a classroom setting: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpOBe6-KyZveiX0.htmlsi=EGsIcJQC-K1Ewy3m
