I LOVE anti consumerism content. It makes me feel like an empowered woman, sticking it to "the man." As women, we don't have to buy all the unnecessary bullshit thrown at us (unless it brings true joy ofc)

I am going to do a no blind buy 2024. That will allow me to buy something if I am really interested and have sampled it more than a spray at the store. Since I hate to pay a lot for samples, it will keep my purchases down to a minimum. I will also avoid redundancy and continue to declutter as I come across non loves or duplicates in my collection. I am trying scents in different seasons than I originally did to see if it changes my experience. There is no magic number in my collection, but I am just weeding out or using up the travel and 30 ml and until I feel that it’s down to just absolute loves. I only have 2 backups and I won’t get anymore unless a fragrance becomes an obsession and I actually finish the bottle(nearly impossible). I also think 3.4 oz bottles should be reserved for only your best of the best and that may influence me to declutter as well. I am avoiding anything that doesn’t have good longevity and getting rid of almost all body sprays and most celebrity scents. I am narrowing down my bedtime scents to 4-6(loves with poor longevity) because I don’t wear them every night and will never get through more. Fragrances as gifts will usually be exceptions, but not always. These guidelines should give me a little flexibility, but get me towards where I want to be.

I stopped buying bath and body works years ago because I never get through a body mist bottle and it’s waste of space. I just buy candles on the sales I also prefer to buy the original and not the dupe for the same reason. I just end up wanting the original anyway so I might as well wait. My collection is 15 right now. I don’t go over 25. Something has to go out first. That’s how I keep in check. Also my taste is niche and it’s expensive lol

My current "rules" are not buying BBW body mists or any, in general. I only own 7, and 3 are specifically for my bed and curtains. I generally do not buy any perfume with my no notes, even if the bottle is cute. Unless I "know" the brand or tried the scent, and trust the brand or love the scent. I have a few more, but also have limited funds. I spend on perfumes, Barbies, kitchen ware, makeup and skincare. 😩 Got to have a little balance

I dont have any BBW body sprays right now. I have warm and cozy from pink, bare vanilla from VS, cashmere vanilla from frenshe, and vanilla bourbon from mixbar and I already feel like its too much 😅 i dont think I use body sprays as much as I thought to even own all of these. My weakess though is definitely gourmands and vanilla and I keep wanting to try different indie perfume houses 😮‍💨

I am doing a no buy next year. I want to enjoy what I have and reduce my inventory. If I run out I can replace (for skincare/makeup). For perfume I want to use my collection and get to know it better. I might allow perhaps 4 purchases (1 per season). But mostly I want to use what I have. Also no more bath & body works I have enough.

I was just thinking the same thing about getting the original if I really want it and hold off on the dupe. Makes sense. I think all the “de-influencing” stuff can be helpful as a counterbalance to the hype. It’s refreshing 😊

I love a good “negative” video to balance out all the “positive” buying videos. I ruined my no/low buy again at Burlington when I spotted 2 Banana Republic perfumes that I wanted to get. And they were cheaper there than online at resale markets. Ends up that I love both and they will be perfect for spring/summer weather which I get a lot of here. So there’s that. I think what I need to do for the new year is spend less money on cheapies. It’s so much easier to go crazy and buy them because of low their price is compared to buying 1 niche perfume for $200+. The next thing I need to do is if I’m shopping for perfume is either wait until it hits the grey market for a significant deal or stick to buying a travel size. What I’ve noticed is that I always get suckered into wanting to keep my top tier in the companies I shop at. This means buying a fragrance at full price because I’ll get the maximum points, or they finally have a 20% off or certain dollar amount off. And it’s worked well in the past. This is the first time I will not be hitting top tier and I’m ok with it. Another thing I need to do is start hitting my goals. One is to get through all my perfume samples minus the super expensive/niche ones. I’ll save those for special occasions since I have only a sample. But all the other designer samples have to be used up. I also need to make an effort after the samples are used up to focus on finishing perfumes that are smaller bottles or have less juice in them. I need to make space since I don’t have a closet to store them in. The last thing I need to do is not focus so much on buying designer, which they mostly copy niche anyway, and buy decants of niche. I think those will be easier to store anyway. But first I need to go through a lot of perfume to get to that stage. I’m already wear perfume after every shower, to bed, when I wake up, different ones on different parts of the body (not for layering purposes but just to smell throughout the day) and I’m not making any real dents in anything if I continue buying. The worst part is I never buy 30ml bottles because I don’t like the price per ounce and because you never know when something will be discontinued.

I’d definitely be interested in more low/no buy content. I want to be more intentional with my spending this year and give myself a chance to love the things I already own. I’ve only recently gotten into fragrances and have become overwhelmed with how much my collection has grown since. Although I’ve really loved learning more about fragrances from the community, I want to remind myself to take a step back and make mindful decisions about what I perceive as valuable in my current lifestyle. 😊

Yes, bath and body works I’m done with for a long time too. I have so freaking much. It’s awful and I’ve tried to declutter to friends and no one wants them so I’m thinking about using some as room sprays etc but still may just have to throw some away which makes me feel awful.

I have been on a perfume no buy and it has helped me finish up some bottles! My temptation for perfume is almost obsolete tbh. For clothing, I am challenging myself to not buy new clothes until I have worn every single article of clothing at least once (i own quite a few things that i haven't worn out)

Great ideas.. I mostly sample anyways and that's my hobby, is to satisfy my curiosity to smell it. If I lived near a store where I could smell any perfumes in person, I wouldn't even need to buy samples. But I live on a tiny rural island with no stores so that's why I buy so many samples 😅 but truly only one out of maybe every 30-40 samples is a total love that I actually end up buying a FB of. 😊 I like deinfluencing videos 👌🏻 Nice eyeshadow colors 💗

A video on your low buy planning would be good! Kayali is under Huda, so they are in a league of their own (to me at least) in the umbrella of cosmetics companies that make fragrances (Guerlain, Estee lauder, etc). I agree that Iso e super is taking over and it ruins a lot of perfumes for me smh. The mens fragrances are so crazy with the iso e super. Not even just designer, niche is going nuts with it too. Never tried any Navitus, Commodity or Tiziana Terenzi frags before so now I'm wary... Almost to 2k subscribers!! 🎉

I’m going to be working hard on my consumerism this next year. Im trying to set some guidelines for myself and take a good hard look at all the stuff I already have. I would love more content like that for sure. I’m the opposite with dupes if I’m super happy with the dupes and then I don’t care about the original.

Oh yeah Iso E Super and Ambroxan are used for making a fragrance project far. And because the fragrance community has been stating that perfumes aren’t beast mode and they want ones that really project, fragrance companies have been adding these ingredients for this purpose.

This year I only bought 2 perfums that were released in 2023 and I did a 14 months no buy from 01/01/22 to 18/02/23. Since coming out of my no buy, I've been super picky and mainly bought wishlist scents.

Carmen! I’m commenting as I watch, per usual. If you like the Pat McGrath palette, I’ve seen some for $40 at TJ Maxx. It may not be your color scheme, but just know that you can find some there. Kayali is niche. Designers must create clothes to be consider designers, or something else like bags, cars, etc. Which the car brands actually license their names to be used in perfumes so they don’t actually hire to have a perfume made for them. That’s a fun fact. Lancôme would be a designer because they are a beauty product brand first, not exclusively only perfumes. Same for Clinique, Chanel, Estée Lauder, etc. The perfumes are an after thought that ties into their brand, much like clothing designers.

I really dislike iso e super too. I agree that men's fragrances are very heavy on it. PDM male marketed fragrances are horrendous for it.

Anti- hauls aren’t that appealing to me personally. Not to say you shouldn’t make those videos. I’m sure plenty of people like them. I 😊do like the low buy videos, especially since I’m in the same boat as you right now. I canceled a lot of my YT subscriptions because I was desperate to keep my no buy going, and I know how KZfaq tempts me. May I suggest some ”what I wore last week” videos as well as some “what I’ll wear instead “ videos. So in the second category, you would look at notes in perfumes you’re not getting and compare to similar notes in ones you already have. Anyway, seems like you’re keeping to your rules pretty well. I have been slowling decluttering my clothes, shoes and bags over the last 2 years. The really hard part for me is my fragrances.... i can´t. I love them all. I use them all, but since i have a lot, is very hard to really finish them. So i want more content on stop buying ... i really need it. Cuz everytime there is a new fragrance, i can´t stop myself from buying it.

I adore iso e super or ambroxan. I love that scent in perfumes so much ❤ the woody clean smell from it is amazing and I think it smells sexy. The good thing about perfumes is everyone enjoys different smells. That really sucks it bothers some people but you can't please everyone. To me it smells like clean skin.
