📌UPDATE! After your many comments, I decided to create a webCoRE video. Check it out if you haven't already! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpqWY8d7ucy-f2w.html
@Withnail19695 жыл бұрын
webCoRE is just essential if you want to do anything beyond very basic stuff. Also you need to add a virtual alexa switch device handler to smart things if you have alexa. You really need those virtual switches to trigger alexa routines with devices that arent in smart things. For example: my webcore routine triggers an alexa switch called 'kitchen light' when someone walks into the kitchen after sunset. The virtual kitchen light switch then triggers alexa to turn the lights on. The webcore routine only works when another virtual switch called 'sunset' is turned on. 'sunset' turns on at local sunset every day. After theres no motion in the kitchen for a minute, smart things turns off the virtual 'kitchen light' switch which triggers alexa to turn off the lights again.

I have the Smarththings hub (V2) with a Smartthings button (V3) and regardless how I tell the button to turn on/off 5 Lifx bulbs.... it will only turn on/off one bulb at a time? Is there a way to tell it to turn the whole room on/off at the same time?

WEbcore is amazing... I have one piston that runs my entire nightly lockdown routine. 9pm lock the deadbolts, check for garage doors open ( if open, close), arm all exterior cameras (blinks), turn on all exterior lights to 10% (color if i want). Turn on table lamps inside the house to 10%. Arm door sensors to signal alarm inside (1 chirp) if door is opened (just in case kids wander). Also if motion is detected outside by a camera, all exterior lights turn on 100% brightness. Wait 3 minutes and turn back to 10%. Turn off lights and disarm cameras at 7am. etc etc. Webcore is extremely powerful. Im guessing im barely scratching the surface too.

Good info. Where do you find the "Community Installer" App and how to install it? Would like more detail on using WebCore. I've installed it (well, it appears in my list of "Automation - SmartApps)), but don't know what to do with it now; that is, how to get started using it to write an app. I use the Classic app, but wasn't consulted/notified when they put out the Connect app so I have no experience with it. Thanks! Yes the old and new multi-purpose sensors both have a temperature sensor. In my experience the temperature sensors in them are pretty accurate give or take a few degrees. Right now I have a multi-purpose sensor on my bedroom door that is close to my Nest thermostat and they are 2 degrees different. The multi-purpose sensor is higher and is 2 degrees cooler so that might change it but you get the idea. One question - How easy is it to do multi-condition routines or automations? I'd consider getting SmartThings if I could set things to trigger "IF this AND this". Example being if I am detected as home, then turn the lights on at sunset (vs if I am not home, then leave them off). I guess Web Core could do this too, but just wondering if there is an easier way (plus this seems to be lacking in the Hue, Lutron, Kasa, Amazon, etc interfaces).
@SmartHomeSolver5 жыл бұрын
Yes it can do that with a few different options. So for your example, you could have a routine or an automation in the smart lighting app that would turn on your lights at sunset but at the bottom of the screen there are more options. One option is to only run the automation when you are home and not away. You can see a screenshot during another video I did kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7mfgZlpmtLDmWg.html where you can enable that option. So yes with webCoRE you can get more granular but it's pretty easy to enable the basic logic of when to run automations in the SmartThings app.

I enjoy your channel and you're videos a lot. So I'm hoping that you can help me with a problem I am having. Please forgive me for doing it in a post like this, but I have no social media accounts and this is the only way I could ask.... I have many WiFi devices connected to my router. I recently (March 10) bought a SmartThings V3 hub and some sensors and bulbs. All was well. My multisensors and motion sensors worked great with my Echo Ecosystem. Then I bought another motion sensor (all of these are the new SmartThings sensor) and while the SmartThings Apps (both of them) show motion as well as the Alexa app showing motion, the Alexa routines aren't working. I have spent HOURS on the phone with both Samsung and Amazon tech support and they are stumped. My thinking is it is a bad lot batch on the sensor but Samsung doesn't seem to be able to tell batches. Just thought I'd toss this out into the universe and in your ear to see if anyone else has had this issue.... BTW, I also ordered a second motion sensor because I thought it might just be a bad one... the second did the same thing. The motion sensors that worked were ordered only 10 days before the ones that didn't. I hope you can help and sorry if this wasn't the correct way to correspond with you.

What device or actions are you doing in your routine? I will try and recreate it at my house and see if I can recreate the same issue. That's a frustrating thing to deal with.

The NST Manager adds all of the nest devices so it just pulled it in.

I also wish i knew before getting into smartthings that you have to cross use two apps to actuallly get things working. You are also given a random country where you are from. Ans its not possible to change from farenheit to celcius

Ring does a really good job of being able to control everything from there app.

I don't know much about smart things, but can Smart Thing help with Alexa commands? I wish you could use an alias command like you can in Google Home where you don't have to remember these long string of commands. "Alexa, ask Chipolo to find my keys." WIth Google, I can simply say, "Find my keys." This works because I programmed the Google Home to use that shorter command. Of course this may not be a problem for some, but older people can't always remember all these apps and products and the exact phrasing. Not sure why Amazon has not addressed this, but it would be nice if I could talk to smart things and it send the equivalent command to Alexa.

What you're looking for is called a "Routine" in the Alexa app
