one China economy alone dominate EU and ASEAN combined. You may as well throw in Japan and S Korea, it doesn't even affect anything. China has evolved from global trade, to domestic market, to now everyone desperate to get into Chinese market.

The EU is also a military alliance. They have their combined command structure and have treaties that state all members must stand in solidarity against external threats. Idk enough about ASEAN to say whether they are one or not though so you may be right about them. BRICS is an alliance in name only. Their 2 most promising members (China and india) are at each others throats and would never fight alongside each other. South africa is a failed state at this point and Russia has lost most of its modern systems in ukraine and would thus easily get rolled by europe in the case of a war. China has a capable military, but the terrain for the defending asean members favours them. And with the EU naval superiority they could easily blockade chinas economy and cause them to collapse.

If we're saying asean can call in china and russia then europe will most definitely be calling in the USA. Now that we've gotten the US involved the 'embargo card' is nonexistent. The only thing that south east asia would be able to blockade is the trade from east asia passing through the mallaca and other small straights in indonesia. Most of that is china and if the EU is at war with china anyways it's basically useless. Now, on the other hand, Most of the EU majors have aircraft carriers with france having nuclear powered aircraft carriers. They could blockade not only south east asia from every other ocntinent, but also china. Russia would fold from a French-spanish-italian-ukranian joint invasion. And if the US decided they wanted to invade directly then there's really not much of a chance those countries have. And playing defensive assumes the EU and nato will launch a land invasion of SEA. That's stupid, they won't. The most we'll do it cripple your economies and starve your people into submission. (It's not that hard, not even chinas navy could break a european blockade, let alone a joint american-european blockade)

@@life_is_a_myth Even without the US, France and the UK alone could exert enough power to blockade south east asia. As I said before, the one who will suffer from cutting off trade between europe and east asia (which is the only thing that SEA can cutoff realistically, I don't think their navy is capable of blue water operations like Britain/France) is China (Europe will obviously suffer too, but it's much easier to replace a manufacturer then it is to replace high tech sales that come from europe) Even if the US doesn't get involved (Which they will, they are staunch european allies) China would most definitely not like any SEA attempts to blockade world trade (in which case SEA would have effectively pissed off all 3 major world powers, not an ideal situation as you can imagine)

@@life_is_a_myth ... That would be true if we were living 400 years ago. We live in the age of globalisation, every economy is intertwined with the rest of the world. Blockading advanced economies like Vietnam, thailand, singapore, malaysia, etc would essentially kill off any industry they have, ruin their ability to produce war munitions and completely wreck their economies.

@@georgiancountryball202 that is true for that reason because of nato's Article 5 but because USA has some ties to some ASEAN members there is something that they could probably do. first is that the US might try to push diplomatic solutions to it's ASEAN allies or if it fails, they could just limit their military engagement with those ASEAN Countries and instead focus on Russia

Russias nominal GDP is small because of sanctions, but in terms of purchasing power (the metric that matters) its economy is around the same size as germany's. Yes economy matters, but when talking about a war. Taking out europes 2 biggest military powers from it significantly weakens it.

Yeah agreed. But I think it's still quietly difficult because unlike the colonial period which didn't have modern weapons, some ASEAN members already have some weapons from Europe, USA and some of his asian friends(proxy war flashbacks). Of course, most of the weapons from Europe cannot be used for a long time because their spare parts are blocked by Europe. If the war spreads then I am sure that between these three(USA, Russia, and China) countries there will definitely be one(or all) who actively interrupt this war
