In the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, Vegeta famously allowed Babidi to control him in order to fight Goku. However, before the battle between the two Saiyans could happen, Supreme Kai steps in between Goku and Vegeta - clearly making the statement that this fight was not worth the revival of Majin Buu. Instead of backing down though, Goku raises his arm and charges a Ki blast - ready to kill the Lord of Lords if he has to. Even Vegeta is taken aback by this action, and in the original, Shin can see that Goku is serious so he backs down. In this Dragon Ball What If I ask the question, what would happen if Shin didn’t back down? What if Goku went through with it and Killed the Supreme Kai. Well, Goku fires off the blast and kills Shin in a single blast - removing him from the battlefield and allowing Vegeta to fight. Gohan can’t believe what his father has done, but Goku tells Gohan they’ll bring him back to life later. For now, Vegeta and Buu are the biggest threats on the planet. Goku tells Babidi to teleport them to a deserted location and he tells Gohan to finish off Dabura and Babidi. Before Gohan can blast open the ship, Babidi lets him in. The battles that will define the Buu Saga are about to happen.

If Frieza hadn't been revived, Goku wouldn't have suggested he be brought back for the ToP since they never saw his golden form, and he wouldn't have had enough time to train to get it. They would be more likely to revive Cell or have the strongest off-world fighter to be brought to them via the dragonballs or Whis, which would most likely be Broly.

I mean, Shin was a cool character at the time, near his introduction. It was only as the story went on that he rapidly degraded into what he is now.

@@NPC-jt3gp yeah, if goku didn't taught him how to control his anger; who knows how strong Gohan would've gotten. Shit even as a toddler, even if buu was stronger, if he ever pissed him off, even buu would be done for because Gohan as a ssj2 was letting out so much anger without ever holding back. He was so mad that even a super perfect cell with zenkai boosts could even struggle with a 50% Gohan. Even gohan as just a 4 year old with 0 training had a powerlevevl of 1200+ meaning Gohan could actually theoretically have more potential than broly even with guru unlocking more of his potential. He as a child he nearly shat on 2nd form Frieza while enraged. Unfortunately we don't see that anymore because the plot really had to nerf Gohan. Even when Goku told Gohan to take advantage of his power by using his anger, Gohan really couldn't get angry.

what they should do is... let videl rest for a couple days/weeks and then give god ki to goten and trunks. sure, there's no way they would be powerful enough to harm beerus but seeing all five saiyans with god ki would make him amused. he expected A super saiyan god. now he has FIVE!!! and another will be in a few years. I wonder... Pan Super saiyan god? I'm not sure if I have ever seen her in SSG.

I don't think Goku intended to kill him with that ki blast. Knock him out, maybe. But obliterate him? That's a wee bit out of character. Honestly having seen everything he believed about his father shaken to it's core, Gohan would have went into a rage taken matters into his own hands. That being said... That brings up a huge question. If Shin or Beerus die... Do they end up in Otherworld with a body? Do other universes have Otherworld? I wonder what Zeno's rules on that are.

Carthu said Freeza was revived; only difference is Gohan killed him before Goku/Vegeta showed up... Then in the TOP they'd still need a 10th member and whis would still revive him... so the Broly movie would still happen... The biggest difference is Gohan may be there too because he'd actually be strong enough to help.

@@daymianhogue1634 Carthu said Gohan "can stop them before they even revive the dead emperor". During the Recruitment Arc I highly doubt Goku would think of Frieza since he would be so weak. I would think that Vegeta or Goku would suggest Future Trunks (and Beerus would definitely be okay with it since he wants to survive). Carthu only said that if Frieza got revived Gohan would've be enough to deal with him, but he didn't.

Once he came back Beerus would have came back too depending on how the process is for them replacing Kai's and The Destroyers. I feel like this is a underrated moment in dragon Ball z because beerus started dragon Ball super and without beerus then dbs wouldn't really have a lot of arcs because the universe 6 and 7 tournament Arc would not happen the zamasu arc would probably still happen but for the tournament of power that wouldn't happen either because there would be no one to introduce Goku to zeno and besides with no God destruction maybe universe 7 would be wiped out for having a low mortal rating

I always thought Goku would just knockout the Supreme Kai or leave him incapacitated, but not kill him. Goku isn't a cold blooded killer like majin vegeta. Goku knew Vegeta was playing mind games to goad Goku to fight him and Goku didn't want to risk more people dying. Correct me if I'm missing something though.

Isn't it that when the god of destruction does with no replacement the angel becomes inactive? This was said to goku during the gpku Black arc to explain where future whis was , so when shin died would whis become inactive too ?

I heard if the supreme Kai dies, not only does the G.O.D. die, but the angel is severely weakened and becomes inactive as a result. So Goku Black probably killed Whis after he assassinated the Kai's and subsequently Beerus.

Maybe the "inactive" part is like losing a job to the angels. It's not like they're going to die/sleep/weakened when their GoD dies as we have seen in the ToP. When Zeno erase the multiverse along with the supreme Kais and the GoDs, the angels alone seems to function very well and did not seems to be weakened after all

Ironic how an unwise decision, both on Goku for doing it and the Supreme Kai for not recognizing Goku's complete conviction, ends up working out in spite of how easily it could derail everything. I thought that was very creative and logical.

Things would change going forward, because their power would be significantly greater. Learning SSG before that BOG ARC is a huge difference, especially with Gohan also learning it. Because they'd be so far ahead, defeating Goku Black would have been easier, especially if Gohan went along. Then the TOP would have faired differently with 3 SSB than just Goku and Vegeta. Probably see Gohan break his limits too. The stories would have a shift.

On the other hand, in the normal canon they start training with Whiz after gaining SSJGod, and arguably, that headstart might just be offset by not training with Whiz. Who knows

I thought because elder kai was locked in the z sword, Beerus didn’t care what happened to the other Kai’s. As long as elder Kai was alive, Beerus would be alive, which is why he didn’t interfere with buu the first time he went around killing the original Kai’s

In the Zamasu arc, Shin said that if a Destroyer and their Supreme Kai die, the angel attendant basically falls into a coma until a new Supreme Kai and Destroyer are appointed, hence why Future Whis never stepped in and took care of Zamasu, since the Anti-interference Angel laws wouldn’t apply to how big a threat Zamasu is. Also, If Frieza never got his power-up and Buu stayed dead, who would they get for their tenth person for the Tournament Of Power? Maybe Cell or Pikkon, maybe even have the Galactic Patrol make a plea deal with Moro?

I think beerus could have been hit by the candy beam. It makes more sense for Evil buu to have been prepared for it and for him to have been able to react and blow it back. But Beerus should have been surprised, and caught off guard. He might be able to dodge anyway, but he also might try to block. If he doesn't react in time, or he tries to block, he gets hit and turned into candy. But like, Vegito was fine when he was turned into candy, and I think beerus would likely be okay too, for all the same reasons.

Buu saga Vegito was able to control it. He is only an infinitesimal fraction compared to Beerus. Beerus has god ki, Hakaii and other hacs that goku doesn't

There's another plot hole to do this. Since Shin has an issue with goku, vegito will never happen and they will have issues in the goku black arc.

And besides, it's not like the fight against the Pride Troopers would go any differently even if they had _more_ than the allowed number of fighters. They might as well "leave it to the professionals".

Plus, goku and vegeta only have better use of the god power that’s all that won’t make it any better against any of the opponents. If you think about it, in all of the events during the Buu saga where Supreme Kai is constantly in danger from being killed off by vastly more powerful opponents, very irresponsible of Beerus and Whis not to interfere. Considering Supreme Kai and their Destruction Deity counterparts are connected and both die if one does, you'd think they'd be more protective of Supreme Kai. That concept was of course written in when DBS was made, and kind of a pointless one at that. In DBS I don't recall very often at all where Supreme Kai was in danger. So why create a Plot hole for Z when you don't have to?

I think Super made it very clear that Beerus is incredibly irresponsible and bad at his job. I highly doubt that the purpose of a God of Destruction is to sleep for a million years, wake up, destroy some of the only planets with sentient life in the Universe, and then go back to sleep. Him not keeping a careful eye on the Supreme Kai, even for his own protection, is very in-character for him.

Beerus getting off due to just sheer dumb luck, feels very in character ...also, just like this what if shows, the tension is still minimal as if Shin had died, him and Beerus woulda been revived with the Dragon Balls. And yeah that is how it should work, considering Kami and Piccolo, another life link, worked like that in the namek saga.

Elder Kai dies in the Boo Saga and his death doesn’t ever get mentioned as effecting Beerus. Shin’s life has ALWAYS been stated to be directly attached to Beerus and no one else’s.

Goku and Vegeta would be stronger in the original timeline remember they trained 3 years before the universe 6 tournament. But since the timeline where goku killed the supreme kai never got the time chamber upgraded Goku and Vegeta wouldn't be able to train for 3 years therefore weaker than original timeline
