the tournament of power honestly had some great plot points that very few people pick up on. namely that goku is actually responsible for giving everyone a chance to live, and the zenos making a double-purpose of the tournament as a means of mortals demonstrating their strength and their worthiness to existence. a very compelling arc all things considered, even if there were some not so great parts throughout

I also think for the brief moment Gicchin is forcibly revived he'd just lay into Jiren as regardless of Anime or Manga he was just THE WORST teammate as he actively chose to let his allies get eliminated. In the Manga he sees and watches Dyspo ask for help and goes like "Nah man, I got this"

It really showed how much Lapis, a.k.a. Android 17, had truly developed as a character, especially in regards to his alternate timeline counterpart, in wishing back the entire multiverse rather than to make a selfish wish that would have been expected of him to make if it were the version of himself from the Cell saga in DBZ.

If anyone but 18 and maybe Goku had one it would have been bad. Most of th Z Fighters probably would have wished some of them back, Vegeta probably would have wished th Sayains from universe 6 back, maybe the whole universe. But I doubt any of them would have wished everyone back like 18. And Goku wishing everyone back would have been a selfish wish too. So basically 18 was the best result Edit meant to say 17 not 18. My bad.

Well Vegeta's wish is unselfish so his would have passed as Vegeta was wishing universe 6 back. Then again he probably would have made the same wish since he wants to get stronger and would also want Jirens universe back as he eventually would want to beat Jiren too, same for Goku.

He wanted immortality for the sake of getting from under Frieza's thumb. Frieza was *assumed* dead after Namek, so Vegeta's priorities and life goals changed. Doubly so because as far as he knew, a Super Saiyan Goku killed Frieza. Vegeta, not being a Super Saiyan at the time developed a new obsession with Goku because he didn't really have a life purpose after Frieza was dead. Being immortal to cheese out a technical superiority against Goku cut against Vegeta's ego. He had to do what Goku did, bUt BeTtEr

Why are the super dragon balls always being used to make such mundane wishes. Legit 17s wish was the only one that warranted needing them. Making a new earth in U6, swapping bodies, immortality and potentially resurrecting ONE person? Namek's dragon balls can do ALL of that.

You're missing a key point about the power of the wish dragons, they cannot perform feats that are greater than the scope of power of their creator. or in earth's case, creators, since both Kami and Dende have imbued them with their power. Universe 6's earth had been gone for countless ages, which means that all souls of those who lived there would long have since been reborn and likely died again, so that one is out. Goku is far beyond the power of even Porunga, and cannot be forced to do something by them, much less have his bodily autonomy stolen from him. This is effectively the same as killing him, which is something that Shenron couldn't do to the Saiyans as they approached earth for similar reasons. And Zamusu didn't need the super dragon balls for immortality, I'll give you that one, but if he had tried to go to Earth or Namek for that wish, he would have been stopped by Goku and friends. That all said, the wishes on the super dragon balls thus far have been rather uninteresting. /rant

no one else has access to dragon balls like the fighters of earth does, these 'mundane' wishes are inaccessible to anyone else in the multiverse. And zamasus immortality was universal, far greater than the only physical immortality that other dragon balls would provide

The only one poringa would be able to do here is ressurect one person. The inmortality would be FAR weaker than Omega shenron's inmortality, zamasu would know that. Poringa needs permission to swap bodies, and he can't go as far to another universe.

While it could have been seen as selfish, bringing back the life of a lost loved one isn't exactly an evil or bad wish. Instead of personal gain, he still wants to bring back a life that was taken prematurely. The Zenos wouldn't know of the reason why so from the outside, that would appear to be a selfless wish.

I think Jiren winning and realizing through the fight that he doesn’t need that approval and has his team with him, leading to him reviving the other universes would’ve been a more interesting scenario. This would’ve been an insane scene to see play out back when DBS was airing, imo.

well the lesson of the anime arc was power of trusting other people like goku trusting frieza who did save him multiple times throughout the tournament even tho his intentions were selfish frieza believed goku can catch up and wear jiren down which him trusting him then in the end he asks whether goku will keep his promise he says yes that leads to frieza dropping all selfishness works together with take him out jiren was rejected this idea till the end

I think by the end of the ToP Jiren saw the same thing 17 and Goku saw, that spirit, the ceiling that was still higher, and would have used his wish the same way, to restore the Universes. Even though the Zenos only said that they'd destroy everything if the wish was selfish in the anime, they seem so excited about having another tournament in the future that they'd probably do it either way

People always say "Jiren deserves to win the tournament" all because his power comes from hardwork alone instead of talent, but that does NOT justify his reasoning to make such a selfish wish. That reason alone is what makes him one of the most terrifying villains/anti-heroes in the entire Dragon Ball franchise. His power and goal alone would mean the end of their existence

He is not a villain or anti hero he is just an antagonist. Jiren is a hero he initially did not want to join the TOP because other universes would be erased and he did not want to let threats arise when he's gone. He only joined after learning about the super dragonballs. Jiren is a dick and is selfish, but he is not a villain nor anti hero.

@@ezronco.8671 Jiren was never a hero, he only started becoming one after Top cheered for him and became friends with Goku afterwards. The term "anti-hero" fits into Jiren perfectly because while he is doing heroic things, his mannerisms of doing them and his moral code are pretty questionable. The "villain" term only refers to who is the villain of the month within the story arc, in this case the ToP Arc's main bad guy is Jiren himself

@@TheEngieTF2 did you not read the manga before jiren gets recruited by belmod. Jiren was heroic and belmod even said that jiren had strong morals and was heroic. Like i said jiren refused to join the top initially because he was worried about potential villains showing up in the universe and he didn't want to participate knowing that universes will be erased. He only joined because he wanted to revive his master and gain his approval as a hero, but deep down he wanted to revive him because he misses him. You can argue during the top he was an anti hero because he wanted to grant a selfish wish, but he's a hero every other time. Also we shouldn't mixup villains and antagonists because antagonists can be heroes or good guys, villains are evil people doing evil things. A lot of people keep mixing up the two when its wrong.

Well that's in the manga, they never actually revealed what he wants in the anime. Most likely it would be something like ultamate power which would have been even worse. Though he did go through some substantial growth during his final fight with Goku learning to value his allies. So maybe he would have made a selfless wish after that

If 17 was passionate enough to change his mind at the last minute and wish for the revival of all eliminated universes then Jiren, the supposed ‘superhero’ of his universe which his manga counterpart shows especially, likely would’ve done the same thing with a changed outlook on strength and trust.

For Zeno, time is probably unimportant, as he lives beyond the mortal perspective of time in the same way as the other gods do. considering that many of the gods are millions if not billions of year old. so his plan to erase the other universes could as well have happened in the next 1000 year or so, given that 1000 year most be like a day for Zeno. However Goku gave Zeno a deadline for when it would happen, in exchange for the universes getting a chance to disprove why they have the right to exist.

I imagine an alternate ending of TOP. Jiren would have won against goku, in the last second only Jiren and friza would be found in the ring, and suddenly out of every body's surprise, 17 makes an appearance and shocks everyone. He was thought to be destroyed. Seeing Universe 7, two warriors and only one warrior of 11th universe. Victory would have been offered to universe 7th and destroy Universe 11.
