If you say you would buy a console for 600, fine, your choice. But because of PS3 launch price, Sony knows a lot of people don't buy at that price. Yeah its great to see Sony developed a high-powered version of its launch PS4, and they have known to address hardware issues in the past like on the PS3 having Yellow Light of Death (YLOD), and now the current "PRO" version of the PS4 should definitely resolve typical issues like stable fps, resolution etc. Hope this mid-gen upgrade address a lot of issues from its original PS4 version.

I don't think you understood the video (or if you even watched it). They can't double the framerate because the CPU can't handle it. It would need a bigger upgrade.

Not just that but hardly any media devices support 4K yet. Like my Virgin Media Tivo box. So its not worth the extra expense.

They don't think that 4K is more important. They think that running a game with upscaled 4K-res. is cheaper than doubling framerate.

That's because they focus on what will sell. Sadly, in terms of marketing, it sounds a lot better to offer 4k than 1080p60fps. As a PC user, playing games at under 60 fps is something I don't like, because I'm so used to 60 that it gives me a headache when I play for more than 30 minutes. I had that issue when re-visiting the first Dark Souls. I played it on my Xbox 360 at 30fps and it was fine, because I was used to seeing 30fps all the time, but when I bought it on PC, it felt strange and slightly laggy when I played it. With my current setup, I'd rather play games at 1440p60 than go for 4k30fps, even though it would look better at 4k.

Might also have something to do with the crappy cpu thats in both the PS4 and the PRO version, not to mention that the 1080p60fps goal was what the original PS4 was being advertised as, and we all know how that went, even worse for Xbox One.

damazig the ps4 pro will do 4k the way the xbone did 1080p. Upscaled and 30fps, except in some first-party exclusives. The Scorpio might do 4k the way the ps4 did 1080p. Unstable 30fps and always cutting edges like shadow resolutions, draw distances and the amount of light sources for example.

Dont know about that, playing on a rog swift monitor, and if I don't get an other titan I wont be able to hit 120fps in 1440p with max settings... I could lower the resolution, but damn going down from 1440p to 1080p, sitting that close is simply awful and pixilated tbh.

***** I fully agree, but bare in mind the games will be designed for original PS4 in the first place (and they already look beautiful), so instead of complicating things for the devs and wasting their time it would be so much simpler to just ramp up the FPS to 60FPS, which will make a huge difference, instead of figuring out to what use those extra resources, which in the end of the day will make the games on PS Pro look almost identical to original PS4 in 1080p.

Nice analogy. I will say this. Before the announcement of Project Scorpio, all anyone was talking about was how Xbox couldn't handle 1080p. So Microsoft specs out the "we heard you" console and R&Ds a 4K Xbox. Now everyone is complaining about 4K and just want solid frame rates. Personally I'm fine with standard hd resolutions. 4K is nice, but I find after a while i tends to not even notice.

To put it in simple terms without getting too specific, resolution is like how many pixels can be displayed on screen at once, frame rate refers to how often those pixels change per second. No matter how good the picture looks if the framrate drops too low, you may have a host of issues with that beautiful 4K resolution. For further reading, Google is your friend.

The hardware within the ps4 pro makes it POSSIBLE (not 100% guaranteed) to run certain games at 1080p 60 fps. What the ps4 isn't able to pull is 4k native 60fps. Before one of you comments "it will upscale 1080p to 4k." It is still not considered 4k.

it usually depends on particular games, some got really crazy resource heavy ultra options that taks ur pc very hard with small improvement in visuals(hairworks in witcher3, msaa in deus ex). Storage is simply loading times, cheap and small SSD solves that problem completely(like 250GB samsung 850evo ) Ram- at least 8GB but if u wanna be futureproofed for next 3-4 years get 16GB of 3000MHz DDR4 Cpu- here it depends if u want console alike framerate(then some cheap i3 or old i5 will be more than enough) or u prefer smooth 60fps or even higher- then get i5 6600k and oc that baby using custom cpu cooler(hyper evo 212 for 30$ is great for that) Gpu- it strongly depends what games and at what resolution u want to play, if its e-sports like dota/lol then any 100-120$ gpu will be plenty- 750ti,950,960 or rx 460 from amd. If u wanna game @ 1080p console or higher graphic settings in new tripple A tittles go for rx 470/rx 480 or gtx 1060, just make sure u buy non-reference version, those got custom coolers which means they are more quiet and cooler. The more gpu VRAM u got the better quality textures u can choose, so optimal is 6/8GB. About very specific game settings and its effect on performance its great to read here, in nvidia guides for specific game, link for ass creed unity here www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/assassins-creed-unity-graphics-and-performance-guide just as example, u can find there many more.

Though it may not be your style of game, bloodborne is an amazing experience. I'm a PC player and while the 30fps lock was a bit jarring, the game is good enough to push past that. I would be incredibly happy if the ever ported it to PC. Phenomenal game.

I own this set up :) Had the Ti since launch. So buying the 1070 would be pointless. Its running at 1500mhz too so it actually only has a couple of frames in it either way

Why on Earth are you not using any DSR factors? You're wasting 40%-90% of your GPU's potential power and losing out on a huge increase in image quality and anti-aliasing. There are almost zero amount of games where you need to go below 2x DSR with a 980Ti, most you can run with 3x-4x DSR at high/ultra settings and stable 60fps.

Not quite. The cool thing on PC is that a person can play on a rig built a few years ago and still run some of the latest games. Of course they would have to turn down settings in order to keep the frame rate high. For example, I'm playing through Dragon's Dogma again on PC after getting it on sale on Steam. Fun game. I'm running it on a SurfaceBook (a tablet that's easily throttled due to heat) at 720p/50-60fps with high settings. Yes, I make use of air conditioned environments or a fan because it does get hot without either. When I played it on PS3, Dragon's Dogma was the equivalent of running on PC at 800x600/25/30fps with low settings. But that's just the point. You can't tailor your experience like that on console. If Uncharted was a PC game then people with a capable spec can run the game at 1080p/60, 2K/60 or 4K/60...if they have the spec. PC Bullies will build a system that would run it at 1080p/120 or 720p/200. No joke. If a rig is old you might have to run it at 800x600 but you could cheat and run it with medium or high settings and still get good frame rate. No need to upgrade every year. On consoles, we're stuck with what the developer dictates and if we don't like it, we can suck it. No flexibility there. But the cost for the flexibility is why consoles are still viable. The average gamer wants no part of the premium of playing at the highest level on PC. Despite tales to the contrary, no one is building a kick ass gaming rig for $400. If anyone tells you that they either stole some gear or they're lying. Think about it, how is that even possible when a good GPU alone could cost $300 to $400?

But the irony is consoles are duplicating the worse parts of pc gaming without any of the benefits. the physics in gta 4, its more advanced than gta 5's, all the down from the advanced car physics (downgraded on gta 5 to accommodate the huge open world) to the rag doll physics.... i remember when gta 4 use to do a number on my core i3 ;-; but gta 5 and my core i3 are cool with each other. gta 5 is more gpu heavy :P

ks22 I agree but some games work better then others. I found myself mostly using it only in single player games, GTA 5 is an exception because you can really adjust "dead zone" or speed acceleration and make it feel like a true 60fps on PS4/XB1. Most of popular shooter are running 60 frames anyway so I don't even bother. I actually completed Uncharted 4 with "motion flow" on medium and gameplay did not look worse if not better than this video all tho I did run in to same problem with the truck

false the average fps the human eye can detect is dependent on the individual the same way we are told human hearing cuts at 20.000khz but the fact that 60 fps looks vastly smoother than 30fps which is according to some 6fps overkill of the so called 24fps.
