A GAL is appointed by the courts to represent the child’s best interests. The GAL is appointed after the parties try and reach a settlement regarding custody and placement, but the process fails or is beginning to break down. There are 16 key factors that a Guardian ad Litem will use to help determine what is best for each family. If you are questioning what a Guardian ad Litem is or what they can do for your child, this episode is for you.
In Wisconsin, the judge decides who pays for the Guardian Ad Litem’s service. This could be the parents or the court. Generally, each parent is responsible for one-half of the GAL’s total costs, including the GAL’s legal fees and investigation costs, such as tests and experts.

All of this sounds pretty legit to me this guy sounds like he knows his stuff. However damn near every court system is corrupt damn near every judge if the person you are going up against is connected to these judges in anyway they have no problem bending the law for these people. I know for a fact because I live it. My children live it because they were ripped from me.

Good advice, however there is something called parental alienation. For example, in this video parent A was 100% involved in their childs life. That makes parent B look like they don't care. I'm that parent B in real life. Parent A looks like supermom because she was smart enough to block all of my communication for 3 years. I just now started talking on the phone with our daughter once a week because my attorney told her to unblock me. Now they're using the fact that she blocked me against me in court to say he has zero percent involvement. My ex's dad told my attorney that I don't have to pay child support if I just go away. Why in the world would anyone want the father out of their grandchilds life?

i have to say tht the last part seems like mom is gonna b apart of those things...tht is in fact assuming tht dad HAS to work and cannot b there. lmk what u think... i do have a seperate case atm where a child ihas been taken away from both parents and a mother is fighting for her daughter back....its beeen almost a year now..the gaurdian has simply said the 5 yr old doesnt want to see her mom and so it hasnt moved forward....i need more info on this please

What about infents? Our son will be 1 soon but he's 10 months old now. How is it determined the best for him when he can't speak for himself?

What happens when the adult is given a guardian ad litem? How does that work? Do we trust him/her?

You can never trust them...I got screwed over in court.. too much corruption.. they never did their job

My child was just placed with me recently bc the mother was using drugs and the boyfriend was supposedly abusing her well she took out a 50b on the boydriend bc dss told her to do so then she was found with the boyfriend and my daughter so both of then were arrested then the police called me to come get my daughter then aboit 2 days later my daugjters mother took out a 50b on me saying all sorts of horrible things that werent true as a means to try and get custody bac of my child the court denied her exparte but continued our case I hired a lawyer immediately but I feel like I need GAL assistance in my case bc the mother is totally unfit and unstable my daugjter doesnt even want to speak to her mom at this point but I dont want the mothers lies and bs and instability to cause my daugjter to end up in foater care idk what to do I really could use some help plus I am a father in NC

I know what you are going through..it happened to me..the courts don't care..it's all about who could spend the most money in court..and still not go your way..too many bad mother's out there getting away showing neglect and abuse.

the guardian of a child i know of financially supports the child, however the emotional and mental support is not there

It's hard to be involved when you are not allowed to be involved even though it has never been proven that parent b was abusive. Boone bennifits from this system besides bar members

So a mother wouldnt be a GAL for her own daughter right? The papers are fraudulent? Becsuse she is Not an attorney.

From what I have experienced and heard, the gal is not in the best interest of the children. Ours didn't see me parent my children, was dishonest, and he didn't even disclose major information to me or to the court, significantly affecting our case.

Their job depends on keeping cases going for as long as possible. It does not depend on finding the best interest of the child. And this goes for everyone in the court room except for the parents.. they allow hearsay as evidence to find children dependant. They lable parents as abusers based on hearsay . They take children away from loving parents and put them in abusive placement situations. This is spoken from my first hand expierence.. also I never have spoken to the guardian ad litem in my case and all involved put no effort into getting to know me or my family. They belong in prison
