Hello SPS Hoom - Your videos are always Must See for us but we have a carrot to pick with you on this one. First of all, any time you show Snackers being made slow that part waaaaaay down. We don’t care if it annoys any hooms who may be watching, it’s Snackers and what could be more important than that?!? Well, except strawberries. Our hoom absolutely refuses to give us whole strawberries and you have not helped our cause here. Recently we have agreed to settle for strawberry tops with just a bit of berry still attached. (Obviously we will keep pushing for more.) We do think of all the good hooms at SPS every morning when we have Morning Cookie. A day that starts with a Snacker just has to be a good one, right? - Much Parsley, Celeste, Kaiya, Finley, Lauren, & Clark

It drives me crazy that pet shops including online shops still sell treats that are not safe for pets. I see so many owners giving their rabbits guinea pigs those yogurt drops. I always tell people that just because there's a picture of a rabbit on a package, or says suitable for all small animals Does not mean its safe for them. I only feed mine the healthy snackers or selective naturals.

I'd like to talk a bit of science and common sense here. Rabbit pellets and 'treats' are for humans. We eat snacks and feed our companions junk to make ourselves feel better. Bagged food is for our convenience, and NOT with long-term rabbit health in mind. Pellets were developed mid last century for the commercial (food) production of rabbits which were fattened up for slaughter with no concern for their long-term survival. Virtually all commercial pellets are full of things rabbits should not and do not normally eat--like oils. No "moderate" amount of treats or pellets is healthy, it is only 'tolerable'. (It's like saying a few cigarettes are 'probably' o.k.) Same goes for fruit--where in nature would a rabbit eat a banana, or peach, etc?) Rabbits need mostly hays, and a small amounts of greens and they need regular direct sun exposure (10-15 min daily or about an hour each week total is probably the minimum) for vitamin D. This is how they evolved. We caged them, brought them indoors and put them on a human developed diet. I've lost a bun already because I followed the recommendations. When my second bun had similar bouts of GI stasis, I dug in deep to the available knowledge, terrified I'd loose another bunny I loved. I removed all commercial junk foods and treats and use only hays, greens and sun exposure, and there have been no GI stasis bouts since.
