Sometimes you do those short videos defining a term, a video of “archaeology” and “genealogy” as methodology used/defined by Foucault and others would be great!

1. draw a vertical line 2. at the top of that line write physics 2. at the bottom of that line just a couple of mm above the ground make a mark 3. from that point draw to lines in a 50 degree angle 4. That area represent the beginning of physics 5. As they discover new knowledge within the filed the mark is places further and further up the line 6. Within the triagle we can retrospektiv place aristoteles and Einstein they are part of the history of physics just like their theories is

Ayo', David. I'm cool with your redefining Foucault's terminology, but not in a discussion where he is not taking part. Tell me about discourse analysis or tell me about needless digging up of intellectual groundwork. Do we understand one another on the basic rules as applied to serious intellectual investigations?

He didn’t redefine them; he explained discourse analysis as a construction of a field or discourse by bringing together disparate ideas and lumping them into a category that becomes constitutive of knowledge. Also your quip that we can’t redefine if the thinker isn’t there is asinine: 80% of the philosophers we talk about are dead, but what we take from their ideas extends beyond that corporeality.

@@gavinyoung-philosophy It's essential though in intellectual work, to understand exactly what the author says. Unless the text itself was meant to be interpreted (like poetry or religious writings).

Foucault ? .. Foucoff ! . . Who is the final arbitrator of what goes into what category ? .. this is Foucault's way of denying or reifying any position he, or anyone wants. And typical of the French language, where everything trails off into ambiguity .. same here: doors wide open for decadence to come barging in.

That's because you are locked into a dualistic thinking way of power

I don't think that's the case. Foucault denied being classified as a postmodernist, and for good reason. He did not claim that all ideas should be treated equal. He realized that some ideas exert dominance over others, and that should not be the case. If I correctly understand his thinking: dominant ideas should stop persecuting minor ones, and instead start rectifying and improving themselves through understanding of the ways, with which they oppose them. Contrary to almost every postmodernist, Foucault did not impose any solutions. He instead presented a real problem that was almost never discussed before.
