Isaac, your presentation style has gotten a lot better since you started a few months ago (no offense). I can see that you're more comfortable talking and notice it with your body language aswell. Good job mate. Anyway can one of you please explain how they come up with the rear suspension travel if the stroke in the rear shock is a lot shorter. My mtb has 150mm rear travel, although the stroke travel is only 55mm. Doesn't make sense to me.

If you ask most manufacturers it's a 170 mm (or even more) full suspension with a slack 60° head-tube angle and about 12 inches of reach to the full 1 m handlebar controlling 5 feet of wheelbase.

An Enduro bikes geometry is the do it all bike. That bike is able to go from Green cross country to pro lines at the bike park. It's not the best at everything but it is capable of doing everything.

My norco fluid with 120 rear, 130 front, and a 66.5 head angle does it all pretty comfortably, its also not so slack that the front end feels vague and slow turning on xc tracks.

#AskGMBNTech Can you maybe explain seat post clamp orientation? On Wolftooth page, they say that seat post clamp slot should align with slot on seat tube, and I also was reading on some MTB forums that clamp slot should be rotated by 180 degrees compared to slot in seat tube if using carbon fiber seat post (or bike frame?). Does it even make any difference at all?

#AskGMBNTech can freehub pawls or the freehub body get damaged by putting stronger springs? Logicaly it does add more power into the pawl hitting the body but are they soft enough that they may get worn down way quicker?

#ask GMBN Tech. I have Fox 34 float forks on my Orange P7. I have been on the Fox website to set up the air pressure in my forks however, I weigh more than any of the stated pressures and weights. Can I add tokens to prevent me bottoming out? Or do I need to buy bigger forks?

I find at least for me, my Giant Trance 29 is exactly that; agressive geometry with a low BB, long reach and reasonably slack headangle (65.5) paired with a steep-ish seat angle (76.4) for climbing. Short travel (130F/120R) and a burly frame. It climbs everything I point it at and still shreds the bikepark really well. I use it for anything from XC loops to full on DH. A short travel bike with a long travel attitude!

#AskGMBNTech Does rear braking affect the suspension? I have a Dartmoor Blackbird 29er 160 F/R travel, it doesn't have some sort of linkage near the hubs or near the center of the rear wheel. Hope this reaches you. Cheers!
@kingflynxi9420
@kingflynxi9420 Жыл бұрын
Rear braking does affect suspension, some older horst link bikes had brake arms that would isolate it from the movement of the rear triangle. It's why a lot of people like DW link or VPP suspension.
@ItsATrap614
@ItsATrap614 Жыл бұрын
@@kingflynxi9420 yup, I like the Maestro in my Giant because braking and pedalling forces are isolated from suspension movement. I find it has one disadvantage though; because it doesn't squat down under braking it allows the rear suspension to decompress during steep descents (under heavy rear brake use) thus putting more load on the handlebars and front tire. In that specific case a little brake-squat would be beneficial.

If you are 100KGs and running 140psi.. nothing out there will feel good.. these dampers are a catch-all tune that suck for everyone. I'M 240 LBS and fox techs said their grip2 can't handle 125psi on a 38.. Putting 10wt oil helps.. try that. I ended up getting an AVA hybrid damper.. pricey..the RC3 zeb is a bit better but much harsher than the fox airsrping side.

#askgmbntech Hey guys, big fan of you all. So I have Scott spark 930 with fox float 34 and a fox nude 5, I'm 63kg and I'm running 85 psi on the suspension with the rebound almost on the slowest setting with 3 tokens and on the shock I'm running 200 psi with the rebound almost closed also with no tokens... I know that's almost the opposite of what fox recommends but it's the only way not bottoming out all the time. Any suggestions, is it fine. Or I'm I abusing to mutch of the bike I have ? Cheers

#AskGMBNTech Why is reduction of the spoke number so trendy in the last decade or more, since that actually weaken the wheels? At the beginning of the MTB days, the golden standard was 36 spokes (sometimes even 40), on 26" wheels, but today on 29ers is 32 spokes (often 28), with same 14 gauge diameter (why not at least butted spokes?). Is bike industry pushing back the safety in favor of the statistical numbers related to weight? And what is the final word on how should leading and trailing j-bend spokes be positioned on the hub? It seems like every wheel manufacturer have different conclusion about that.

#AskGMBNTech I'm new back into mountain biking. I've noticed that the chain and cassette seems to have surface rust after even one muddy ride. I do clean the bike after a ride but I dont have an indoor space to clean and dry the bike. So particularly if it's raining... Its impossible to put away totally dry. Will it damage the bike? Are there any tips to make sure it's dry?

I'm not the type to say "you can't do that" but in this case I'm pretty sure you can not ride a road bike at Rampage 😂😂 Or rather, you could, but the ride would be pretty short. As in; it would be over within seconds
