Watch as Reason ambassador and 5x Grammy-nominated pop producer @iankirkpatrick spends an hour hanging out, making music and jamming on an idea. Just 60 minutes later, there's the seed of a track forming.
When we first met Ian he told us Dr OctoRex is one of his favorite ways to start new ideas. This video is a great example of how you can use this legendary device to chop up all the musical content you already have on your hard-drive and turn them into new song starters.

See, if you had updated Reason's sequencer and workflow, Ian wouldn't have to use Cubase !

@@79Daver Actually I'm doing very well in Studio One and Reason's workflow is far behind it. This is not complaining, this is criticism! As a Reason lover I share my point of view so that they know what their users need. Actually in their blog posts they encourage you to be vocal about your demands. I love Reason and I hope in the near future I won't feel the need to use any DAWs other than Reason.

Reason was made into a VST just for you, so you can live happily in your illusions of using the most updated and best sequencer ever

@@HOLLASOUNDS Just an auto-save function for my ease of mind. The notes' name on the MIDI note events. Locking notes to scale so that I can write my counterpoints with more ease. Being able to see the notes' names in both flats and sharps (Just try to write a song in Bb minor to see how things get confusing)... See! these are very tiny little things that are for granted in almost all other DAWs. Is it really hard for Reason to add these basic stuff? Yeah Studio One has these super cool stuff like chord detection, mix scenes and scratch pads that makes the life way much easier, but all I ask from Reason is those very basic stuff.

Curious as to what control surface reason studios recommends example c24 , Barringer wing, SSL UFA etc? Control surfaces continuously mention integration with other daws and reason never seems to be included so I'd like to ask you directly....

Ian's got alot of plugins, as do I however Reason 12 can make most if not all of these sounds and effects on it's own.

That's the trick! Propellerheads gave everything you needed (for the most part) when they incorporated Record into the software. People just want new things to look at which fuels their shop. But if you close your eyes; Reason has everything you need and more right out of the box. The NNXT is still a great sampler! I was re-exploring the factory patches and old refills and was amazed. I don't need to buy anything else. But I probably will!😂😂😂

Always good to hang with Ian in his twitch livestreams and great to see him at the Reason channel. But what happened to the Reason Livestreams? Last two ones where just skipped (including today 20.6)?

Can you guys explain why you STOPPED making the high quality tutorials you did in the past? LIke...Completely stopped. What was the reasoning behind that? You have this video now with Ian Kirckpatrick, but it's a rambling livestream. That's fine for HIS channel but here you should actually film a proper video like you guys used to do with DJ Lucky Date, and Justen Williams. Seriously what is going on over there at Reason Studios? Everything has gotten so low quality.

I'm 100 percent on board with using it with other DAWs as a plugin, and this is no hate to the program (otherwise I would not have spent -thousands- on it over the years) but I'd like to see more videos actually using Reason as the DAW on the.... Wait for it.... Reason channel.

@@TLOEric I agree I'd like to see some full songs being produced in the Reason Daw, but for some reason RS has abandoned marketing the full daw. I'm pretty pissed about it. BUT - seeing Ian Kirckpatrick use the rack is still pure gold. I'll watch anything he puts out with Reason.
