I just got a new Kindle and I'm not very up on how they work and all that but I'm slowly figuring it out. I'm 72 and this kind of overwhelms me. Thanks to people like you who explain these things. I think I'll be very happy with my purchase.

It is the Netflix/Prime/Hulu of books. It is access to a huge library, but it's mostly indie stuff or not the best version of the e-book. It's more of a "buffet sampler." I collect manga comic books and it does have some, but it won't have the whole series. Unlimited will have most of the volumes, but the latter ones will only be for sale hahah. Good strategy if they want you to buy things in the end. I chose not to get it, even free. I already know what I want to buy and it's usually not available on Unlimited. Surprisingly, I might have a case for paying for Audible since that will have A LOT of audiobooks I would normally buy...

I only got it so I could get books to have on hand till I got around to reading them. 20 books instead of 10. However I did sign up for two years, to save fifty dollars.

Good review. Very clear summary of the service. I also tried it for an extended time and found the same cons as you mentioned. Often the books I really wanted to read were not offered, so I was reading second choice books just because I had paid the monthly fee. The books I really did want I couldn't keep after reading them, unless I paid extra and bought them. It might be fine for someone who just wants to read anything, but my life is too short to spend hours reading things I really am not interested in.

I can’t say I read more than 10 books at a time! I had no idea that you didn’t need to get a kindle to get kindle unlimited, that’s some great news this sunny Sunday. Do you know the most popular books aren’t on kindle unlimited? It sounds like it’d be a great investment over the summer term when uni work loads are lower :)

@@JHVlogsUniversityKZfaqr haha! I'm not entirely sure but I think it depends on if the publisher chooses to have a deal with Amazon regarding kindle unlimited. I imagine they don't think it's worth it if they know they will get millions of readers without it. This being said, there are some popular books on there, just not very many. 😁
