I've done a lot of research, and I've never heard it explained like this at all.

I've been 1 and a half months sober, and my symptoms are improving slightly, but at the same time I wonder if what I'm experiencing is the alcohol withdrawal or wernicke's syndrome. As they both seem to be described in similar symptoms, although one is a medical emergency. I went to the hospital and my blood work was fine, but I don't think they do routine blood tests on B1 levels. Been feeling like garbage since that one night of binge drinking and vowed to stop drinking alcohol.

I have PAWS, but i quit drinking almost 2 and a half years ago today 8/15-1/18. I suffer from p.a.w.s more now I think, because I don't crave or desire to ever drink again. fyi, i quit with my faith in god. I know my memory upsets me all the time and the anger/frustration are always there. and why am i super emotional (crying) one minute, and don't care about anything the next? you think im dealing with something else here, something personal? idk, i do know my head is a mess, so it wouldn't surprise me. (drugs/alcohol)

So does this mean on Day 19 sober that the acute anxiety I am feeling is nothing to do with years of drinking alcohol, and that I do have long term underlying anxiety issues that also need addressing?

I keep hearing of this PAWS? I jumped off clonazepam on September 1st, 23 years taken as prescribed n I feel fine, when if this sets in? My taper went smooth but I was cut off cold once by my doctor n it nearly killed me..

what this is all about is the wounds that got us in this mess in the first place. It's the emotional scars.... therapy is needed at this point. No more physical withdrawal, now its time to deal with the emotional pain

PAWS must be like POWS (post opiate withdrawal syndrome) for me with POWS micro-dosing with psilocybin has been key

I feel like I’m going crazy. I got into a motorcycle accident 3 1/2 years ago. They had me on opioids that whole time. I forced myself off of them 5 1/2 months ago and ever since then I’ve had constant anxiety/shaking, sweaty palms/feet, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, panic attacks and just being uncomfortable 24/7. It’s nonstop. I don’t get a break. I’d rather go through my accident again and cut off half my hand and have my femur sticking out of my knee than deal with this. This has ruined my life more than my accident. And my accident took my hand and walking ability.
